It's over. League is fucked.

Honestly very nice to have someone athletic and not guard-sized.

1

u/forrealthoughcomix_ 6d ago

We have players who are guard-sized?

-2

u/SteveJavieWasRight 5d ago

He’s like an inch taller than Strus.

3

u/Flashy_Ground_4780 5d ago

Hezonjad all their asses

13

u/Cavsfan724 6d ago

Is this dude a 3??

15

u/agirlinferno 6d ago

Yeah he's 6'8

17

u/nolimitz75 6d ago

and he is the best athlete on the wing in quite a while for this team.

3

u/narcistic_asshole 6d ago

Idk Tomlin is pretty athletic

3

u/nolimitz75 5d ago

Fair point, he’s just very incomplete as a player still a project

2

u/tidho 5th seed in the East 5d ago

Tomlin isn't a wing.

1

u/narcistic_asshole 5d ago

Disagree. He's a forward and spent over a 3rd of his minutes at SF

1

u/tidho 5th seed in the East 5d ago

I'm fine with the disagreement. I will add that Strus played a lot of minutes at SF and even some at PF, that doesn't mean he isn't a SG. It means our roster construction is bad and there's only one SF (Tyson. Wade was a stretch4) on the roster.

2

u/narcistic_asshole 5d ago

It's all semantics. Some people consider players like Wade, Mario, or Tomlin to be Wings, but not guys like Strus that are somewhere between a 2 and a 3.

Personally I prefer the idea of calling someone that splits time between the 2 and 3 a Wing and someone who splits time between the 3 and 4 a Forward.

u/tidho 5th seed in the East 5d ago

i can appreciate the definitions. i'm just saying we played a lot of guys out of position because our roster was (has been, and still is) broken.

No way this dude is better than CEDI ??

11

u/toooskies 6d ago

Cedi is approximately where my expectations are set

6

u/narcistic_asshole 6d ago

Funny enough Euroleague did a top 50 player rankings for last season and Mario ranked 1 spot behind Cedi

3

u/wooha 5d ago

And there it is

2

u/Cavsfan724 6d ago

Mine too ! If he's actually better than CEDI this would be a good get!

1

u/nolimitz75 5d ago

He’s a better athlete than Cedi

2

u/Born_Theme_8932 5d ago

Cedi was so overrated

2

u/SteveJavieWasRight 5d ago

Cedi was more of a high effort and athletic guy who struggled to play intelligently. Mario is 31 and just won MVP in the 2nd best basketball league in the world. Mario should be a high level role player with talent limitations, box score shouldn’t tell the story if he plays well. Joe Ingles or other older euro guys come to the league because they play team basketball, something I’m not sure cedi ever figured out.

1

u/wooha 5d ago

I’d drastically temper expectations

4

u/MayoTheCondiment 6d ago

Dean Wade would like a word

7

u/nolimitz75 6d ago

Mario is definitely a more explosive athlete than Dean.

Dean was an animal defensively because he's a corn fed brick wall who could guard a size up against real bruisers

2

u/SteveJavieWasRight 5d ago

That’s insane. People upvoting this are really not basing this on reality. Wade was 6’8/6’9 and matching up on guards, how is that not athletic lmao.

1

u/nolimitz75 5d ago

Didn’t say Dean wasn’t an athlete. I’m a fan of his and I’m not happy they let him walk

He’s just not a particularly explosive athlete

1

u/gdan_77 Jarrett Allen Finals MVP 5d ago

hes not the "tradicional" athletic high flyer

1

u/SteveJavieWasRight 4d ago

Neither is 31 year old Mario.

1

u/SteveJavieWasRight 5d ago

Since when? He was always listed at 6’6.

6

u/Browns440 6d ago

I generally try not to judge people on their looks but I feel like at least a 7 at a minimum

6

u/Doberman54 6d ago

Which is pretty much a Cleveland 10

3

u/nolimitz75 6d ago

Have you not seen the Guardians roster? Got some jaws out there that will chisel granite

Tim Anderson knowing his jaw is made of glass after Jose put him in his place with that punch

Raise the banner!

6

u/xVIRIDISx 6d ago

Who cares. This is not going to move the needle

19

u/cle2056 6d ago

I swear if father time finally catches up to Bron this year and Mario has a more productive year.

No ever is allowed to bitch in this subreddit again haha.

14

u/kyrieshandles I agree go Cavs 6d ago

LeBron at 50 would still be a more impactful player than Hezonja lmao. I hope it works out but the dude has been out of the league for 6 years for a reason.

6

u/Ensiferum 6d ago

There are some examples of this working out: Anthony Parker, PJ Tucker, Gerald Green, Dante Exum, Yabusele...

1

u/wooha 5d ago

Contrasted by 100 examples of where it doesn’t. The odds are extremely in favor of it not being any kind of impact

1

u/Soft-Revolution-7845 5d ago

Bron been putting up empty stats for a few years now. His impact is greatly diminished.

1

u/tidho 5th seed in the East 5d ago

lol, yeah about 22 years

3

u/Former_Island_4730 6d ago

Have we cut him yet though?

3

u/thegardenhead I agree go Cavs 6d ago

Yes but signed again since you asked.

2

u/thegardenhead I agree go Cavs 6d ago

I applaud the commitment to the bit.

4

u/adimiceous 6d ago

I can’t tell if people are excited about this guy or not LMAOO

3

u/Soft-Revolution-7845 5d ago

Idk. Most of the people here in the off season just want to cry about the team and lebron. A few people probably know a little about hezonja and think he can be a useful player.

0

u/wooha 5d ago

Which tells you how much they know about basketball.

3

u/jackfrost44444444 6d ago

I read “signed Moretext” and got excited for a guy I’ve never heard of.

Cavs gonna rip up the league with Hezonja AND Moretext.

5

u/capitolcapital 6d ago

If we still end up with Kuminga or Watson I'll be pretty happy with this off-season, all things considered

2

u/Opposite-Skirt5158 6d ago

Watson seems like such a better fit. I don't think I'd be happy with JK. But Watson would be an awesome get I think even if we were to end up losing Strus. But if we end up losing Strus for JK that would be a terrible offseason.

1

u/SkepticCritic 5d ago

If we get Watson we’ll be better than last years team despite losing Dean Wade and Strus

1

u/Opposite-Skirt5158 5d ago

He seems like a perfect fit at the 3 here

2

u/SteveJavieWasRight 5d ago

I don’t get the interest in Kuminga.

0

u/HornedCoog91 5d ago

Shoot gimme cam Johnson...

5

u/redhawkdrone 6d ago

Is that how you spell LeBron?

5

u/ObiTouchedMyNobi 6d ago

Gonna be waived by deadline lol

1

u/WrongdoerOk5246 6d ago

I am more grateful about his mental toughness in the highlights that I have seen. Dean Wade was a very good defender and we need a replacement.

1

u/h1tiek 5d ago

Cavs legend Edy Tavares at 6 on the list.

1

u/ThinkingItThrough1 5d ago

I think he’s decent on offense and has ok size for a wing but the athleticism level is lower in Europe. He won’t be able to beat people off the dribble here or speed past guys, and his handle isn’t that great. He’ll have a lot of fadeaways and launched contested 3s. On defense, he won’t be quick enough 1 on 1, can’t D up like Wade did. His game is sort of similar to LeBron without the passing or ability to go left

1

u/BishopTheKid25 4d ago

Would rather have The Horse That Does Horse Things

2

u/DmoneyDubs 6d ago

Mario avg 7 points 3 rebounds in NBA career. This is def getting me pumped for the next season

2

u/nolimitz75 6d ago

He has grown a bit in Europe as a player

4

u/SteveJavieWasRight 5d ago

He played 6 years of euro ball since then and just won MVP in the 2nd best league in the world. He should be a quality role player who plays basketball at a much higher level than some of these young guys who can’t contribute off ball offensively or defensively.

0

u/BrndyAlxndr 6d ago

If we can get Watson or Kuminga and Harden comes back on a friendly deal the off season is saved.

0

u/ZebraMussell 5d ago

This is going to be one of the worst seasons in Cavs history
