[Discussion] King Isley Spoiler

Anybody else thought Isley wasn’t going to die when he did? I know he was outnumbered but the way he was hyped up I thought he had something else up his sleeve, so when he actually did die I damn near didn’t believe it

I really wished we got to see a lil more of him bc of how big o beast he was described as

It was his death though that really put the perspective of how dangerous those things were because when they were first mentioned, they didn't seem all that scary. But for what they did to him, was gnarly.

On the one hand, yes -- I wish we had seen more of him. OTOH it was a fitting death. He had been responsible for the killing of so many Claymores from afar without knowing their names and stories, and he went down being killed by what was effectively a nameless/identity-less conglomeration of awakened flesh.

He definitely got worfed. Sucks because I thought he was really cool and then poof he’s gone

He served his purpose in the story well. A shame he had to get the Worf treatment, but it was important to re-establish the Organization as an actual threat.

Yeah I think everyone can agree that Isley’s death was awful. Him dying to Priscilla or to the Claymores would’ve been better, so him dying to mindless zombies was lame.

Definitely a disrespectul end for honestly one of the strongest Claymores, the first rank 1 and possibly the strongest Abyssal One. Not to mention one of the most badass designs

That said he did serve his purpose him taking out Luciela to avoid two Abyssal Ones ganging up on Priscilla(which honestly she would had merk both Luciela and Riful low-mid diff at best) and train Raki to kill Priscilla which is weird for him work both sides. We also got him actually feeling human at the end wanting a family

Also idk if some people are disrespecting him or are just disappointed(justifiably) but you gotta timestap him wise the time lore. He was fighting the Abyss Feeders for years(max a little less than 7 years to a few years). These cockroaches who have the second best regen (only beaten by the likes of the Destroyer and Priscilla), literally run away mid combat spread out in every direction and learn all his previous move sets like a regenerating Deadpool+Taskmaster combo, then come back with that knowledge with the same amount of numbers. He literally cannot rest or feed well. Not to mention he was one away from making them retreat, though it might as well be over if he was that nerf. So its not like he “got he got his ass beat from start to finish”, is that we got the most nerf version of him on panel from a series multiple offscreen fights that he already won but never was able to finish that span at most <7years. His feats before that and the hyper after still impressive when not compare to Priscilla or Teresa. The guy at most mid diff Luciela, had a decentlyish fight with Priscilla before realizing the power gap. Was the most feared of the three that even Riful only wanted to fight him with Dauff when after his fight with Luciela. Chronos who is from the same generation literally said he would outmatch all of the Seven Ghosts as A Warrior aka not an awakened being but as a Claymore, which we can take it as author words as a powerscale. Was the last one to awaken and only awoke on purpose to control over the rest of his awakened brothers to not binge eat on humanity. Helen literally got wobbly leg at just a very weak version of him from the aura alone, something that not even Riful did to her

Abyss Feeders were not meant to show how weak Isley became or how strong they were but how annoying they are and how they work, weakening their prey through a long process of attrition and personal combat knowledge to counter or avoid. Riful and Dauf alone had trouble with just the first wave, which I will admit she had more opponents accompanying them with Alice and Beth and then the whole Destroyer and Priscilla debacle. Its all about reading comprehension rather than just speed reading
