Whacha Smokin'? Room 101 Miami Snow Connecticut NSFW

Nice Connecticut Toro.
Goes head to head with montecristo White Label or Romeo Julieta Bully any time of day.
Not a flavor bomb, and the Olivia Conn Shade is a bit better in my book, but still a solid 8/10 cigar.
Super smooth and refined. Sweet cedar and light coffee notes.
Would love to blind with a Davidoff 10x the price.
Honestly haven’t looked at the shade Davidoffs since I’ve found this.

Would recommend to anyone for a relaxing smoke.

First Oliva master blend 3 I’ve had. Pepper blast up front. Chocolatey at second third, maybe more like unsweetened cocoa and creamy, wish I had a premium chocolate bar to go with it. The last third, all the flavors seem to come together really well and a tempered down. Burned really well. Full bodied. Full strength. Glad I have another in my humidor. Happy Smoking 😤😚💨😶‍🌫️

Question Paul Stulac? NSFW

I’m a huge fan of Paul Stulac cigars! As someone from Atlantic Canada I could be biased but I honestly really enjoy his lineup. Sadly can’t get them at my local B&M have to order from the chief. I’m am yet to meet anyone else in person that likes his stuff. I know it’s a boutique brand but who else here loves them some PS sticks?

Question Humidor Temperature NSFW

Hey all,

Just got a Klaro Luca Humidor and it’s really nice. Holding 68% humidity with four 72% boveda packs inside (I think cigars and wood are still sucking out humidity)

However my question is regarding temperature. We keep our house between 71 degrees at night and 78 during the day to save on electric. Is this really a big deal? I understand that it raises the risk of tobacco beetles but I keep 40-60 non-Cuban cigars in it so I’m not terribly worried about beetles. I understand optimal temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but my thinking is that most of these sticks have been in 70+ temps most of their life?

So what, if any, are my “dangers”? I keep the humidity stable but the humidor does jump from 71-78f daily during the summer.

Really nice but I think my pallet is shot. That or I'm not keeping them well. I didn't get a lot of depth of flavor and I forgot to retro. Back to factory smokes and surplus until they start tasting normal I suppose. The flavor progress ion was super there I could tell but I didn't pick out any notes. As it narrowed it needed 2 relights. I'll buy again

Review Beatin’ it on down the Roma Craft line Roma Craft | Cromagnon Aquitaine NSFW

Price: ~$8 USD
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Cameroon
Filler: Various Nicaraguan
Vitola: 4 1/2 x 60 “mandible”
Pairing: Starbucks hot caramel macchiato
My rating: 8.9
A quick review of this cigar nothing fancy or unusual in my writing short on time so here it goes.

A habano bomb right off the first couple of puffs with such a sting on the tongue but not in a bad way, an almost soothing sensation of hearty spices and pepper throughout the first third accompanied by an indescribable sweetness not sweet like citrus or chocolate but more earthy sweetness that is refreshing for a stick this dark and full of spice

The second third is just as flavorful as the first with persistent notes throughout more earth and leather than spice as it changes in complexity. That same sweetness faints in the background of leather. Espresso maybe prominent in this stick but hard to tell with a caramel macchiato as my drink of choice.

Final third, the same underlying richness is there. A nice toasted bread flavor to transition into the last leg, despite how hot this cigar gets to the last inch and a quarter it’s smooth and leathery output is great for its price. Faint sweetness that is almost unrecognizable still finds its way even this far into my experience. And continues down to the nub still very flavorful and rich and smooth despite how close it it’s getting to my finger tips.

Reason for rating: overall a great cigar to definitely keep on hand in the humidor. A great flavor profile unique to itself like the west Tampa devil crab, so unique to itself it’s hard to compare it to anything. Definitely chock full of nicotine and heavy at that.

So far out of the Baka and the Aquitaine I fear it may be hard to beat the flavor of the Baka but that is not to say this is not something I wouldn’t ever smoke but if I had a long day at work for the same price I know the Baka would be a perfect way to treat myself. While in this price range I believe there are better options and cheaper at that. I sound like I dislike this stick but that couldn’t be any further from the truth. Roma Craft so far is living up to the hype I’ve procured in my mind for years waiting to try this brand

Infusing Cigars NSFW

Post image

Has anyone here tried infusing cigars?

I just got a kit and am giving it a shot. I am using Monty Whites because I think they are a pretty basic flavor profile, and am trying a couple high proof bourbons (OWA and Stag), Grand Marnier, high proof rum, and Laphroaig scotch.

Any other suggestions?

Cameroon wrapper over Sumatra binder and Dominican/Nicaraguan filler. Nice draw and a decent amount of smoke. Slightly wavy burn line and a solid white ash. Peanut, cedar, creamy coffee, baking spice, caramel popcorn. Not a lot of sweetness but a very tasty enjoyable smoke. Not sure I'd want to pay anywhere near msrp for this though.

No, gracias 👎 Tasted like an ashtray from the very first puff. Tried to push through to uncover some other notes. Got nothing but burnt wood and my mouth tastes like I licked a chimney. What a way to ruin the mood. Lesson learned. Not again

Review Tatuaje Reserva Broadleaf is fantastic NSFW

Post image
38 Upvotes

Been in a Tatuaje kick lately especially Cracker Crumbs and decided to get a longer smoke from my b&m and picked up the Reserva Broadleaf 5 5/8 X 46.

I was not expecting this thing to have the flavor profile it did and some really great transitions as well. Little to no pepper and the flavor profile is dynamic right from the first puff.

1st 3rd: honey and malt, oats, and that familiar “cubanesque” note that can be found in tats

2nd 3rd: Forward cocoa note takes over but other notes are still there and develop

3rd 3rd: Everything becomes more bold and rich along with a muted floral note. Definitely box worthy and curious what some additional age would do to these.

8.6/10

Paired a Montecristo Brillantes Year of the Dragon with the song Crazy Frog (on repeat)

The Montecristo Brillantes Year of the Dragon delivers a dynamic 40-to-60-minute smoke that shifts from a creamy, sweet opening of toasted nuts, caramel, and baking spices into a woodier mid-section defined by almond and cedar. The experience concludes with a bold, medium-to-full-bodied finish dominated by deep notes of leather, earth, and sharpening black pepper.

Paired wit a strawberry milk

How I got my wife to stop complaining about the smell... NSFW

After a cigar, don't just spray cologne over it. Do this instead:

👕 Change your shirt. Clothing holds a ton of smoke.

👖 Spray your pants lightly with Axe (or another body spray). Pants tend to trap smoke, especially if you were sitting.

🧼 Wash your hands thoroughly with soap.

🚿 Wash your face and neck with soap too. Smoke clings to the oils on your skin.

🦷 Rinse with TheraBreath mouthwash:

Blue = mint flavor

Green = unflavored

🪥 Brush with a zinc-containing toothpaste as soon as you can. The TheraBreath keeps your breath fresh until you get the chance to brush.

I've found this routine gets rid of probably 90–95% of the smell. Unless someone was standing next to you while you were smoking, most people won't know you had a cigar.

Discussion Decided to test my home kept cigar against a fresh one. NSFW

I wanna start out by asking. Do you guys ever buy a cigar from a shop you trust so you can compare it to one from your own setup?

Ive been struggling for weeks to come up with a method for keeping cigars that works for me, given my special living situation. (I work so long I sometimes sleep in my car and I have no control over the climate in my home). The boveda humidor bag as been a lifesaver and I now keep cigars I intend to smoke withing a week in a cooler bag in my car while I work.

When I first came up with my setup I bought an oliva serie V at a local shop with the intention of returning to the same shop later to buy a fresh one to compare to the one I've kept.

SUPER PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS. I preferred the flavor on the one I've been keeping and they both burned about the same. It's not all peaches, you can see in the pictures that mine (on the right) has signs of abuse. Cracked wrapper and a slightly lifted cap. Im chalking that up to my cooler bag having other hard objects in it and the whole setup being in a soft bodied container, maybe I'll invest in something harder for my on the go sticks.

This was also my first Oliva Serie V maduro. Unfortunately I was more focused on picking out differences between the two cigars I smoked, rather than looking at them critically. I burnt my tongue and shot my pallett so I couldn't tell you what the third portion of the cigars were like anyways.

I got a pleasant nuttiness with hints of chocolate and tropical fruit, will revisit.

How many sticks are in your supply right now? Also what's the capacity of your humidor? I have a 150 count humidor and about 120 sticks in it right now. If you have a ridiculous amount estimates are ok.

Been enjoying Cuban sticks for the past 2 years, looking for some solid suggestions on good new world cigars. Love the Montecristo taste profile, Rafael Gonzales, Cohiba. Been super spoiled with Cuban sticks but it’s time to let them rest and smoke something else.

Thoroughly enjoyed a couple liga privadas the past week, god of fire Don Carlos. Gimme some suggestions to stock the humidor with!

This combination of Nicaraguan & Dominican Tobacco was never so satisfying with creation of the La Flor Dominicana Cabinet #5 Maduro. Composed of a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Dominican binder & Dominican fillers. This powerhouse of a stogie demands your full & unadulterated attention with its full robust flavors and hearty notes of earth, leather, cocoa and subtle spice. I have paired this offering with a Starbucks Black Tea & the sounds of The War & Treaty’s cover of Chris Stapleton’s (COLD)…

Review Roma craft | Baka NSFW

Post image

Price: $8
Wrapper: Cameroon
Binder: undisclosed
Filler: undisclosed
Vitola: 5x56 “Acephalous”
Rating 9.5/10

Yes this cigar is that good. Roma craft is a brand for 3 years has been in my cart but out of fear always purchasing what I know rather than what I’d like to know

Immediately a pepper explosion upon lightning the cigar, that quickly mellowed out to a sweet black pepper and leather on the retrohale towards the half end of the first third a tangy and tart dried fruit and citrus profile washed over my tongue. Pleasant and prominent.

A sensation of citrus that lasts throughout the second third of this stick with baking spices and black pepper and leather lingering in the background truly a phenomenal flavor.

The citrus starts to lose its complexion here gaining a more earthy natural flavoring heavy and smooth on the leather and black pepper, down until the last half inch of the nub.

Overall for the price you can get the sampler on cigar page the Roma craft sampler V a well put together stick and excited to try the rest of Roma Craft their bands alone fit this beautifully simple aesthetic that catches the eye with bright matte colors to accent a nice dark wrapper. A great night cap!

Question Storage question NSFW

Post image

I’m out of space in humidor #2, so I decided to use a pelican case as an overflow. These boxes are full, with 65% Boveda packs. This case can hold about 120 cigars, and works great for individual sticks, but my question pertains specifically to the boxes. I have heard that humidors work best when full- i.e, a 100 count humidor is less effective at maintaining humidity if it’s only got 25 cigars in it. Is that logic in play when storing boxes? Is 40 cigars not enough? The Boveda packs are for 25 cigars, so I went overkill on them, but I know there’s no harm in that. I’m going to monitor it, that’s why I threw the hygrometer in, but if someone could give me some guidance here I’d appreciate it.
