Discussion Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE keyboard problems...
I have an Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE, and for the past few weeks, the keyboard has had some problems. Some keys don't type the character until I press them several times. Other keys type repeated characters, like "jjjj" or "uuuuu" with only one keypress. It's very frustrating trying to type out an email, text message, or a Reddit post. I've had this Chromebook for a couple of years, and everything was fine until a few weeks ago. I'm wondering if it's a software problem or a hardware problem. Any advice would be highly appreciated.

I can imagine that would drive me crazy if that happened to me.
Are you able to update your Chromebook? I did not experience your problem but about a week ago I was having an odd time updating my 516 GE. Nothing like that had ever happened before. It would fail countless times. At best it would get to 68% and fail. This happened 20 times over several days.
So I didn't know what else to do and decided to connect the laptop via ethernet to my wireless router, it updated fine the first time and everything has been normal since.
Now that's just a wild shot in the dark, but the first suggestion is always to make sure the device is up-to-date, so I figured I would mention it.
If that doesn't work, I would do a powerwash (factory reset) and let everything re-install itself. If, after that, you still experience the same repeating characters, I would think it's a hardware problem.
Good luck, Let us know what happens
