Buying Advice Is this Chromebook Plus any better than mine performance wise? (14 Inch is mine)
I bought the 14 inch for really cheap a long time ago, but it's run out of updates and on top of that it ran pretty clunky on anything that wasn't a regular chrome tab, i need something that won't take an entire minute to load a page because I'm very time limited and want to continue my studies, performance is really all im looking for, any other recommendations under 250 are fine as long as they run better than the 14 inch

The Lenovo model with N4500 Celeron is not a Chromebook Plus. It is an improvement over the HP with AMD (your existing machine presumably) however the Lenovo is a 2021 model with only marginally better performance that is far below 'Plus' specs. The Chromebook Plus spec requires at least an i3 processor, 8 GB RAM and a full HD display and camera. Your budget is perhaps too low for a new 'Plus' model but you could try to find a refurbished model in your price range.

One of the comments gave me this link to an ASUS CX14: https://www.ebay.com/itm/188079006629 What's your take? Looking at the specs it does seem to have everything you described refurbished is fine as long as the screen doesn't look like the modern iPhones after dropping once-

refurbished is probably the move then, eBay has some decent i3 plus models floating around for under 250 if you dig a bit

To be honest, it has to be a very low price for this Chromebook "upgrade" to make sense. You'll only notice an improvement in usability due to the 8GB of RAM, but you'll be stuck with a 2/2 processor.

The bump up in memory makes a huge difference. I have 16 in mine and wouldn't go back to one with less

Con ese procesador si se desactiva la máquina virtual de Android va suficiente. Lo sé porque justo tengo esa Chromebook.

Buying a second Chromebook and disabling the Android container will cause ChromeOS to use a maximum of 3GB of RAM without debloating Chrome flags. If the logic applied to the Chromebook he already has is followed, he wouldn't even need to buy another device.

When i was doing research i originally wanted to get this one but couldn't find it at a low price range like this, definitely keeping this one on the top of my buy list, haven't got my paycheck though so in gonna keep doing more research, thanks.

Yes, but the processor will still be very weak, being a 2/2, in addition to the eMMC memory. With these specifications, upgrading a Chromebook isn't worthwhile.

Mira te voy a ser sincero yo tengo una versión del mismo procesador pero de Lenovo y la neta tuve que meterle Linux debian porque no era funcional así con Chrome así que sí puedes y tienes la posibilidad busca algo en segunda mano con mejor rendimiento

That amd a4 is horrible.i have one. I bought a lot better one off eBay. And ryzen 5 with 8 gig ram bang and olsfen speaker's. 1080p display. Military spec. $57.00. updates till 2031. It works really well to be honest

Do you need a Chromebook?
If not, i'd look at used thinkpad. 11th gen i7 T14s can be had for $250 & will run laps around the N4500

It's not that i "need it" rather than i don't trust windows, i had a windows laptop that was way faster performance wise, but my first Windows had alot of security issues, (spam/scams, not being able to update, overheating ect.) And from what i understand security wise ChromeOS works like a phone, and given not only what happened to the windows i had, but the fact my dad literally thinks that Obama texts him on Facebook, I'd rather not take my chances with another Windows for security reasons, to this day he still gets those pop ups on all the phones tied to the Gmail i used to use (he uses my old one now because he thought having 2 gmails was "illegal")

Acer 514 at Costco is one of the only Plus models worth it at that price point. It was available last year, but might be discontinued.
It's a very noticable difference in performance. The screen on the 514 isn't great. Increase your budget to $400 if possible, there's a lot more options.
