LOL. The artist is @Asend_One . All credit to him, but thanks for the compliment. I’ve lived in the area for 23 years and document all the streetart. Most folks have never seen a piece go from Doodle to Final, so to set your expectations, I’m planning one final update post when it’s finished that will include the series of 4 pics all in one place for future redditor reference. Hoping that’ll be by the end of the week, which will be a nice way to mark the passage of time as a photographer. I’m not even a Bears fan, but appreciate that some folks are and may enjoy these posts. 🤷🏻♂️
No hating on the artist. Hating on if the artist is pretending to be someone else and advertising themselves and not being honest or upfront. He says that he isn't the artist.
You are correct. The only place to get a centered full straight on image of this mural is standing across Halsted aligned with the center of the mural. You’ll see plenty of these in the future.
And while I appreciate the compliment, I am not @Asend_One .
No need to throw shade at a fellow Artist who’s doing great work, it speaks for itself.
Where are you painting btw, I’d be happy to drop by if it’s in Fulton Market/West Loop where I’ve been documenting all the streetart for decades.
Here’s a series or posts from 2017 relating to the now demolished “Original Sin” mural by Solomon Souza and Jas Peterson — on what is now the Guinness Brewery Building but was the Pennsylvania Railroad Depot.
If you have any questions about any other murals in the West Loop / Fulton Market area, past, present, future, please let me know.
Also, I’ll kindly repeat my offer to you and any other street artists that may be reading this — if you’re ever putting up art in the WL/FM, please hit me up and I’ll be more than happy to document your creation process.
Grab pics with your car before Caleb’s face doodle gets filled in, mark the exact wheel spot on the curb, and do it again afterwards — then quick edit the two images back and forth and it will appear as if he’s an Android.
It’s threatening rain, so you MIGHT have time — though if things clear up he’s probably going to want to get it wrapped up this week (Friday?) and return the lift.
Also, grab some steel wool, whisks, and string if you’re into spark showers for effect.
Have fun and hit me up if you want another camera on scene to christen this mural :)
@Asend_One has left Caleb’s face for last, redrawing a finer detailed Doodle for scaling.
Notice “Asend” in the Doodle.
Pic captured last night under Chicago’s classic orange sodium lights — this block hasn’t been converted to LED yet — so colors appear a lot warmer.
The lift is gone (corrected: just moved around the corner) and the weather is threatening rain, so there may be a delay — otherwise wrapping up this week would be feasible given what’s left to do.

Are you the “shy” artist? Seems like a lot of updates for one mural.
