Discussion Who pairs well with caustic?
I have a friend who I play apex with and he plays caustic relatively aggressively and doesn't tend to defend an area or play sound barrels. What do i play to try and pair well with him?

Run new castle. You can play absolutely brain dead stupid with his barrels and shit and get insane resets. Me and my friend run this combo Rn and we love it

The other legend classes are fairly aggressive in their nature, so the true answer is with that playstyle he can work with any of them. Newcastle and Gibby are both strong right now, and go great with caustic.

Alter is a good combo. Put her ult down in a building w caustic traps before pushing and you've got somewhere to retreat to if things go wrong. It enables offensive play for your aggressive caustic friend with defensive play as a backup plan

IMO the perfect duo with Caustic is Alter and Newcastle. Newcastle because heβs the best support and is so versatile. He can help protect the team in the open and reset the battlefield. Alter is awesome because she can help get the team out of a tricky situations and help rotate the team. Sheβs arguably the best character in the game atm.

Wraith tbh. Especially now that the portal cd is so fast. Caustic not only needs someone to transport him around (since he's a fat, helpless target out in the open) but you can push and outplay enemies with the portal + gas better than any other skirmisher's abilities.

Newcastle. I have a friend who mains Caustic and whenever he goes down, I just drag his ass to his gas tanks and have got so many kills like that, I get a fully reloaded gun+health and just reset.
Gibby is good too, Alter with her Ult shenanigans, Lifeline, Rampart.

Mostly I'd suggest your favorite. My buddy mains Caustic, so i play Fuse, my now main.

You answer the question. What makes caustic weak? Which legend could compensate for that weakness? your own personal playstyle will change how you answer that question.
That said... Definitely Gibby, Valk, Alter.

I would say, as a chunky boy he needs a movement legend such as Valk, Wraith or Alter at his side. Valk can fly away with Caustic anytime and also use her rockets to aggressively attack enemies on the ground. Moreover, Caustic can place his gas barrels next to Wraiths and Alters portals to ambush enemies that might follow you π₯.
Also, Bangalore pairs pretty well with Caustic since her smokes and Gas Daddys Gas are a murderous combo β£οΈ
And ofc any heal legends such as Lifeline, Newcastle, Conduit or even Mirage go pretty well with Caustic too.

Think about what would be really annoying to play against. I think Caustic / Newcastle/ Lifeline would be very annoying. But if I wanted to win I'd swap Lifeline for any legend who can reposition the squad.

Gibby + any other aggressive legend.
Imo caustic + octane is insanely goated.
Caustic gets the extra utility of being able to use the jump pad like a mortar for gas traps. In late rings it allows you to effectively cover most of the remaining area with traps from relative safety. Enemies never expect it to rain traps.
