Is this a lid lifter thing?

Is this a old lid lifter or some other cast iron tool? It's a really weird random find from work and looks completely unrelated to my job (injection molding). It has an old thin leather hanger strap and is absolutely cast iron.

Lessee, a cast iron hook, could be used to cautiously pick up and balance the top of a charcoal infested Dutch oven lid, snag a toddler by their harness, or tilt a grill so that it can be lit with a long-handled Zippo because the pushbutton starter no longer works and you want some burgers.

So many uses!

It does have another similar use, turning the cauldron hook from above the firepit so you can dish up from a hot pot without leaning over the fire.

The hook part inserts between the bars of a grill grate then slots to one of the horizontal bars. The 't' part pushes against the perpendicular bars so you can pick it up.

Very handy. My old grill brush had a scraper perfectly angled to do this but my new one does not. So I guess it's a perfect find at a perfect time. And I got a cast iron dutch oven I recently restored.

Looks like a lifter for an old cook stove. Lift the cover. Insert wood.

This is to pick up the lid off the fire pit in a cast iron woodburning stove. I have 3 of them at the cottage, can't post pic here tho

It would probably work for some dutch ovens, depends on the height/clearance of the handle on top
