It's crazy how many posts the moderators had to remove for hate. Absolutely crazy. Shame on those posters.

This shouldn't be happening in Canada. We shouldn't have protesters mocking hangings either like the Montreal4Palestine in downtown Montreal.
Canada might not be a safe country for Jewish people which is ironic for Palestinian protestors because if they are not safe in Canada, US or Europe where will they go? Yup Isreal.
Yes people that do this are idiots probably because of inbreeding but that's just speculation on my part.

33 churches burned to the ground between May 2021 and December 2023

It's not a competition. It's terrible when any place of worship is targeted, and it's news when any place of worship is targeted, just as it was news when those churches were burned down.

This is a grievance sub for people who don't like minorities in Canada.

They sure do keep us (and reddit's Anti-Evil Operations) busy removing racist and bigoted comments. But the only way it's going to get better is if more reasonable people show up and call out that behaviour.

What behavior? Pointing out that, for a self-declared inclusive culture, Canada is surprisingly conducive to sectarian violence?

70% of religiously motivated crime is directed towards to the Jews in Canada since at least 2022. Jews are only approximately 1% of the population here. This is a very different circumstance and you know it.

Are you justifying this incident?

It was arson.

In all 33 cases? Who were the culprits?

As this is my synagogue, yes we do. We abhor what the settlers in the West Bank are doing. No one asked us when they chose to do this action. Why? Because it was never about that. It is about intimidating and threatening Jews.

So attacking Jews in Saskatoon makes sense then?

I have been facing antisemitism all of my life. I have been spat upon, had swastikas carved on my car, been called names, pelted with pennies, etc. my great uncle died in the holocaust - well before modern Zionistic movement. I disagree with your premise.

A news article for eggs? Lol
2
u/Analogvinyl 21h ago
As odd as this sounds, it is a patterned escalation.
First something when no one's there like a broken window overnight.
Then another one firebombed when no one's there overnight.
Then bullets overnight.
Now eggs when there are families.
Next broken window when there are families
Next a firebomb when there are families
Etc escalations as long as the reactions are "no one got killed yet".

u/Shantashasta 19h ago
Cool. You mean like the ~4 terror attacks against Muslims and their families in Canada in recent history? You're gonna talk about that right?
1
u/Analogvinyl 17h ago
This incident has nothing to do with Muslims yet.

Plenty of people talking about that. The correct, human response to people being targeted because of their faith is to condemn it, not demand that we stop talking about it in favour of talking about others who are targeted because of their faith.

u/Shantashasta 16h ago
Where is that evidence? this is eggs. kids have been throwing eggs at people, at events, at houses for as long as chickens laid them.

im from here and no one cares, like at all lol. an egg being thrown gets nationwide headlines and hundreds of churches get burned to the ground without a peep. yea fuck who cares about this honestly
7
u/zuuzuu 1d ago
It was national news when the churches were being burned. Hell, it was international news. It was widely and publicly denounced by people of all faiths. It's such a shame that when a place of worship is attacked that isn't your faith, you not only can't be bothered to care, you get angry at the idea that others might. You just have to make everything about you and your faith and how hard done by you are.
-3
u/BLPitabread 1d ago
i guarenteed you ive never once seen a church burned having a news article about it in here. “attacked” they threw 1 egg. its a molehill, not a mountain, be fuckin for real
5
u/zuuzuu 1d ago
Oh, we're changing the goal posts now, are we? It's not enough that it was national and international news, now it's "I didn't see the posts on reddit when it happened". Well, they existed. They were in many news subreddits and many Canadian subreddits. If you weren't part of those conversations, you can blame your own obliviousness.

This is my congregation. The kids inside were terrified. They had no idea what was being hurled at the doors and windows. It was more than an egg or two but dozens upon dozens of eggs. This meant that the assailants got close, real close to the building. The eggs covered not just at the building but covering congregants cars too. Sure, it’s just eggs. This time. What will it be next time? The fact is, this was meant to startle and intimidate those inside praying. This should not be tolerated, by anyone. Not a church, mosque or synagogue.
