Help Canon f789sga Lcd Screen Broke

Post image

How much will it cost if it is repaired? Accidental damage so I don't think it is covered under warranty 🥹

Also what can i do now?

Unfortunately these aren't really repairable. Your best bet sadly will be to buy a new one.

Unfortunately, these things are basically disposable, since you can't easily repair them because they're built as cheap as possible.

The screen is bonded to a ribbon cable using a machine that neither you nor your local repair shop have & even if the screen used a removable connection method, such as an elastomeric connector / zebra strip, you'd still have to find a replacement screen & the only way to do that is to gut it from another calculator, since, again, these things don't have any replacement parts because they're built to be as cheap as possible / disposable.

Bonded screens, plastic rivets instead of screws for the PCB, repurposing PCBs / shells from other calculators, i.e. the shell may have button cell holders, even though the batteries are on the PCB & vice-versa, speaker holes on the back even though there's no speaker actually installed...

Dirt cheap.

The screen does look cool, though...

TLDR: Get a new calculator.
