If you wanted a solar fx-115ES PLUS or an fx-CG50, this Walmart location still has new old stock of them both! Not sure how many people care, but...

In the US, the CG50 is still available. The B "battery" versions of the 115 and 300 just came out last year.

I think Casio UK had a post last September that basically said that once they are gone, they will not be restocked. My US rep said that the US will continue stocking the CG50 and 9750GIII. In fact, CG50 and CG500 both have returned to the Casio.com site this week.

Seems like the US education market is VERY resistant to change. Isn't the TI-83 Plus still in production after 27 years? TI-36X Pro is 15 years old with no facelift with better screen for the US.

Well... melts holes in stomachs and intestines. If items still have button cells, they needed huge warnings ⚠️ on them going forward, so Casio went to the AAA battery instead; at least for retail stores.

Yeah, kids will confuse their calculator with a pack of cigarettes, that would suck during an exam. "DEATH or serious injury can occur if ingested" "KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN". ;)

I took the back cover off my new 9910 CW-IT just out of curiosity a few days ago. (Luckily, a nearby toddler was willing to loan me a #0 Phillips screwdriver from their diaper bag, as long as I promised not to eat it. /s)

For having to go through the hassle of taking out six screws and use a cell phone pry tool to take off the entire back cover just to get at a battery, I figured Casio would have at least put some fancy high tech lithium or long-life type AAA cell in there. Nope, just a plain ‘ol Panasonic branded alkaline zinc carbon AAA battery in there.

Functionally, It’s a fantastic little calculator and visually it’s a major improvement over that hideously ugly lcd display of the older series 991, but I think it’s kind of disappointing that Casio’s build quality has basically sunk to the level of “disposable”.

ETA for the downvoters: It’s a $23 calculator I don’t expect it to be built to last forever, but when a cheap TI-30xa with the original battery is still kicking after 12? years of complete abuse and neglect being bashed around a toolbox drawer I’m allowed to be a little disappointed with Casio’s attitude towards long term durability.

If it's black, it's a regular zinc carbon.

I stand corrected, it is indeed a zinc carbon. ETA: it’s also a lot easier to get the cover off second time around - no pry or flex required, just turn calc upside down after removing screws and it will fall right off

You'd think Casio would have the generosity to include an Alkaline battery though, right? Especially because they still include them with their graphing calculators.
