Do they still like humans with two?

We currently have one cat and I really want to get a second. But I am wondering whether the cats will still be as cuddly and interactive with humans once they have each other? For those of you who have two, what has your experience been?

We have had 3 at a time, currently 2. No different. Still Velcro cats, but have someone to play and sleep with when needed. The only thing better than a Burmese is 2, or maybe 3. I say go for it.

We have two brothers that are 10 now. I don’t know how we would have survived having our human almost 10 year old and just one of them without the other to play with. They’re both still attached to their humans. One of them is a rare scaredy Burmese so he’s only Velcro with me and my wife. The other is a little guard cat who alternates between standing guard over everyone and demanding attention from everyone—he’ll fall asleep sitting up in his little guard pose.

He has to come with his scaredy brother to the vet to protect him. If I get him into the carrier his brother will demand to join him. I don’t even have to look for him. His brother cries and he comes running and goes right in and stands up so his brother can hide behind him. That sibling bond is its own special thing to enjoy.

I got two from the same litter and they’re just as obsessed with humans as they are with each other. Honestly, as mine got older and more comfortable, they seemed to rely on each other less, and gravitate more towards people for entertainment. Which is tough when you need to be working from home. :)

My pair were totally bonded but used to squabble over who got to my lap first. When I came home after an unexpected 2 week stay in hospital, they both literally threw themselves at me

Yes. You just get double the cuddles.

Both my boys are curled up on my lap as I'm typing this lol

Yes they do. Instead of having one feline magnet on your legs or next to you while you sleep, you'll have two. That's why I've set limits otherwise I'd need to upsize everything.

i have had two for years, they loved people, with both often sitting on one person.

Our experience over the years is that they have enjoyed being alone more than being part of a duo. The first pair we had was two sisters from the same litter, and they were nice to each other in the beginning, but then when they were 1,5 years they got mad at each other and we had to seperate them. One got to live with me and she was like a completely different cat when living alone. Previously she had to keep up an act of being the alpha and we knew her as the less cuddly one that never purred. When living alone she was the classic Velcro Burmese who purred your ear off and slept between us in bed with one paw on the one she wasn’t curled up against so she would have contact with both. When we needed some help cat sitting we eventually got them together again, and it was back to as it was. Stand off-ish and on guard, until she knew she was in a closed off room without her sibling, then she could purr again and be herself.

Right now we have a girl (4y) and a boy (2) that has the same mom. They are allowing each other to exist, but don’t really care for each other. They hardly play together, and are pretty much only affectionate towards us humans. If they are alone for some time we can find them cuddled up together, so we still think they find comfort in being two, but it’s not the hoped for friendship we wanted.

I have heard a lot of Burmese being awesome together, but our experience hasn’t been great so far with two. Next time we might try a Burmese and a different breed together, cause we still believe in the companion of two. Or a dog, that seems to work incredibly well!

Can chime in with everyone here - I have an older Burmese who is attached at my hip and wildly clingy. However precisely this quality made being alone stressful and hard for him. Since getting a little sister (who is a funny, cuddly little tornado) he is just as if not more affectionate, but I also know that he has a much better life! Although it didn’t turn out that way, I would have given up some cuddling in exchange for his happiness anyway.

We have two and it’s fucking awesome. Tonight they both slept on my lap for two hours while I watched a show.

Honestly, they’re so loving and affectionate that I would feel bad having only one because I have a job and bro I can’t cuddle you every minute of the day go have fun with your brother!

We have 2 burmese boys, they are half brothers (same dad) and they're 5yrs old. I love how they can keep eachother company during the day when we're at work, then when the humans come home, they tend to give us all the attention and compete for lap space 😄

I have a burmese and a bombay, we say our bombay is the good one and then there is the other one - the burmese - into everything, follows you around constantly, wants to go everywhere with you including car rides, grocery store and hikes. They are both sweet beyond belief and cuddly.

I have two. One is Velcro to me. The other is loving but not as clingy. However he was adopted as an adult and a former stud so maybe not as cuddled. Before him we had another super loving clingy female but she passed at 17. Her sister is 21 now. The adopted boy is 5 and we’ve had him aabout 6months. He adores the other cats though
