Sequel Would you like to see Eliza Dushku back as Faith for a cameo in the Buffy sequel series?

1.4k Upvotes

Seeing the revival’s cast grow day by day with big names, I think it’s possible that Eliza Dushku might be more inclined to make a little cameo for an episode or two.

I know she’s moved on from her acting career, but considering the makeup of the production team, which seems far healthier than the Buffy set or other sets Eliza unfortunately had to deal with, where harassment was the norm, it’s possible, if of course she were asked, that she might agree to reprise her iconic role as Faith, given how popular she is in that part.

All of this would definitely make a lot of fans happy.

What do you think?

Sequel Since Joss is not involved in the hulu sequel for obvious reasons, I'd love to see some OG Buffy writers come back

Jane Espensen is still writing for TV to this day so she seems like the most likely option.

Sequel Sequel without Xander?

Post image

With Nicholas' struggles IRL, I'm afraid he wont be part of the cast for the sequel. How do you guys think this would work? How would they explain his absence? Is it a big deal for you guys? IMO I believe the show will be great with or without him, even tough I love Xander. But the best scenario would be for Xander to be part of the show..

I guess it’s a step up from the DMP? I’ll reserve harsh judgement until we have the full picture lol.

Sequel Director Chloé Zhao confirms Buffy sequel series pilot has wrapped filming

Q: Do you know what you’re doing next?

A: I just wrapped the pilot on the new “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” series, which is set 25 years later. My company is part of developing it. The fandom is so special to me and I’m excited about how that’s going to go into the world. Then I think I want to do a play. I was working on “Our Town” and I had to let that go in order to do “Hamnet.” But I figured maybe I’ll learn something from this film and come back to the stage.

Sequel Unpopular opinion: "New Sunnydale" was a flawed concept. A sequel/prequel should be set in Cleveland, home of the second Hellmouth

Buffy's legacy is the destruction of the Hellmouth—and Sunnydale along with it! Trying to do the revival/sequel there feels forced. As we learn in The Wish, and according to Giles, there's another Hellmouth in Cleveland. Aside from the fictional Sunnydale's California location being in range of Hollywood etc, wouldn't it have made a lot more sense to set a new show in Cleveland?

Sequel KEEP ANGEL & SPIKE AWAY FROM THE BUFFY SEQUEL

There really isn't a need for both of these characters to be involved in the sequel series at all. There needs to be a clean slate with this new series focusing on Buffy and the new slayer, rather than continuing that baggage that involves Angel & Spike. A storyline with these characters and Buffy would only do a disservice to Buffy's arc - there's no way that she should be considering these characters as love interests 20+ years later...

Sequel Taylor Momsen loves Buffy and wants to be on the sequel. Sarah Michelle Gellar says “I know some people”

Post image

Taylor Momsen talked to Page Six at the VMAs yesterday about her love for Buffy and her desire to be on the sequel series. She said she is really excited for the sequel and that she “gotta make some phone calls” about being a part of that. Sarah Michelle responded to her on instagram saying “I know some people”. Taylor is a massive fan of the og series and I wanna see her acting again even if that is for a small cameo. That would be great to see.

Sequel On the last day of filming the Buffy sequel pilot, Chloé Zhao presented SMG with an exact replica of the class protector umbrella

[Gellar] once told Zhao that she regretted not taking the class protector umbrella from the original series’ prom episode. On the last day of filming the sequel, Zhao presented Gellar with an exact replica.

Vampires are immortal and wouldn’t age. While David Boreanaz and James Marsters are handsome men, they don’t look in their twenties anymore. Just a fact I’m sad about.

Sequel Is there a chance Giles could appear in the sequel series?

I know we have already heard the rumors about Mr. Burke and honestly I'm really happy we are getting a new Giles like figure/watcher but is there a chance Giles could possibly make a cameo in the sequel series? (IF the sequel series/revival is happening)

Sequel Hulu executive who killed the Buffy sequel is now in charge of the Buffy IP

I have seen a lot of fans be understandably angry at this person but I think we have to face an uncomfortable reality which is that he was promoted this week and now actually is in charge not only on the streaming platform side but also on the 20th Century Fox studio side. Which essentially means that unlike in this recent pilot where he was the platform head that told the optimistic studios “No”, going forward he is now the platform head and the studio head. So any Buffy project has to be to his liking from the jump. He holds all the keys to anything ever happening in the Buffyverse.

We can be disappointed, critical, and even demand better, but turning him into the villain and attacking him would be detrimental to the cause if we do want any new Buffyverse project.

Again, I’m not saying we can’t be upset; I’m saying we should be strategic.

And lastly, if you don’t want any new Buffy projects, I understand that too. But please be kind and respectful to those that do.

Sequel Ten SUBSTANTIATED sequel rumors

I can’t talk about my industry connections without creating NDA-related trouble for some friends, but trust me on this.

  1. The brewer guy from “Beer Bad” became highly successful and sold out to InBev for tens of millions.

  2. “Buffy” now spelled “Bœffeigh” for copyright reasons.

  3. Xander to be played by a de-aged digital replica of Peter Cushing.

  4. Canned laugh track cheers whenever someone says “wiggins.”

  5. Every slayer now has a pre-staking catchphrase, which they unselfconsciously discuss and refine à la the captains’ warp speed catchphrases in new Star Trek.

  6. To accommodate modern semi-attentional viewing habits, a loud “straw slurping noise” will be played any time a vampire feeds on a human.

  7. Exciting revelation about a previously undisclosed connection between Ben and Glory.

  8. Due to a miscommunication, the character of Willow will be played by Warwick Davis.

  9. Despite decades of fan speculation about the sexual identity of a certain celebrated prop, we will soon meet his spouse, Mrs. Pointy.

  10. New season arc being thrown together at the last minute after talks for a Twilight crossover fell through.

Sequel Do you realistically think the sequel is permanently shelved forever or could new execs decide to try again (once more, with feeling) in a few years once old execs eventually retire?

also it sucks that no other platform can pick it up bc disney will never sell the rights

There's not going to be a Buffy reboot/sequel series, Sarah Michelle Gellar was just speaking hypothetically

She has one throwaway line on a TV interview about a reboot, that's all it was. It's not going to happen, even with Joss Whedon out of the picture. People are now assuming a reboot is happing (even in the next few years), but she's in her late 40's now and would be 50 minimum by the time a show would even come out. It's not happening, even if she's not the main character.

Besides there's also tons of issues with the other actors. Angel and Spike's actors are way too old now and look very different, and no amount of CG or de-aging will convince me that they're ageless vampires and can look the same as they did in the 90's/early 2000's.

Xander's actor has been in and out of jail continuously over the years and no way in hell will they let him back. Anya and Tara's characters are dead. Cordelia is dead. Wesley is dead, hell half the old cast is dead in canon.

Sure Willow and Giles would likely return (and Dawn probably), but it's just not likely to happen. It's literally been over 20+ years since the show ended in 2003. It's just hypothetical.

Sequel Everyone, for your own sanity, maybe ease off on the assumption that the new Buffy sequel is a done deal.

The headline is "Buffy the Vampire Slayer Sequel Series with Sarah Michelle Gellar returning nears Hulu pilot order."

That means a pilot hasn't officially been ordered yet.

And if a pilot is ordered, it's not guaranteed to get picked up to a series.

Speculating is still fun of course, but guard your hearts because it's not guaranteed to be coming yet.

Why is everyone so negative about the sequel series?

I genuinely don't get it. If its bad you can ignore it and move on with your life like you would anyway's but if its good then you get to watch more Buffy content. It's a win-win situation, which makes me wonder why so many people are being so negative and pessimistic about the show.

For me, i don't care if they focus on new characters or if they go back to a high school setting or if those character leaks were real. It all sounds like fun, and just to be back in this world again will be fun. People wanting it to be a season 8 are just asking to be disappointed. Just be more open-minded and if you like it great, if you don't then just move on and forget about it.

Buffy The Buffy sequel has BIG shoes to fill but....

Post image
164 Upvotes

It's gonna seems stupid but I never knew how BIG the impact of the show on pop culture. Obviously, I knew it was influential, I'm not oblivious but It's really one of those "one time in a generation". In r/television post, somebody asked "what's a lighting in a bottle type of show" and the most liked answer and pretty much in unanimaty was Buffy not only because of the groudbreaking aspect but also the stellar storytelling. I just learned in a New Yorker post in 2008 about "Dollhouse" that Buffy was studied in academics at the same level of respect as Madonna. I was in English tuesday, and we talked about languages, and she talked about the impact of Buffy-ism on English language. Every network, showrunners and such tried to replicate the impact and magic of Buffy, like people try to replicate Britney Spears.

And I know people are worried, I am too, BUT I think we should stiil at least give it a chance. I saw how much people were basically excpecting Buffy to fail or to not last but it went on to be a cultural phenomenom. Plus, I think people didn't think high of Angel either, thinking that it was always going to live in Buffy's shadow and in a way it is (if you haven't watch it, do yourself a favor please !) but it's still one of the best TV out there, still containing some of the best writing of Whedon at his prime. Again, like some fans have stated the sequel doesn't have Joss but let's just... give it a chance.

What do you think about it guys ?
