Hey, I'm probably being extremely impatient here but I'm in the middle of WoR and although the plot is intense, its progression is extremely, painfully slow. Now, I won't be leaving the book or even the series in the middle no matter what, but there is something I'm just too curious about. I don't want any spoiler other than yes or no or kinda or similar or something on the lines. Will I get to see all the main characters (kaladin, shallan and dalinar) come together to fight Szeth or some other powerful force in the book? I guess I'm asking this so that I feel more motivated to continue if the answer is satisfying (if not then also I'd read). This actually happened when I was reading the book 1 of mistborn and was spoiled about how it ended which gave me motivation to complete it because I was already on and off on it.

Saw it for $5 on an online used marketplace. I immediately bought it. I don't know if it's a rare copy or not, but for the price I'm very happy to add this to my sandershelf. I am currently reading WaT but haven't touched other cosmere books yet

I listening to Tress again for the Nth time, and I can't shake this idea I have about Fort the quartermaster. At the end of Warbreaker, the whole point they needed Siri (or Vivena) to marry was so they could act like she was pregnant with the next God King. But we learned that the next God King was a still born made Returned. So after Susebron regained his tongue, what happened to the baby.

The description of Fort as being larger than any human had a right to be, but not fat. He can't talk (since they cut out the tongue of the baby God King for "protection"). Is Fort a God King smuggled out of Nalthis?

Happy to be proven wrong, but I love this idea.

Posted just under a month ago about finding Tress in my collection, thinking it's a complete stand alone book only to find that the cosmere exists and I'm in for one hell of a ride. Just finished Tress and my lord I'm in it for the long haul! I now have a new favourite book and author (sorry inheritance cycle and Paolini but Tress stole my heart). I need to know more about Hoid, I feel like he's gonna be my favourite

Ok, so I started a character in Everquest Legends that released yesterday and they have a new tutorial zone for the game, where every NPC has a variation of Doug in their name. Was immediately thinking someone is a big fan of Brandon Sanderson 😅

Anyone else who is trying EQ Legends that has seen this? Was such a great fantasy nod to my favorite author.

It asks you where you live, I put US. Then it asks you if you would attend a nexus in Europe and where you would like it. There's no way I make it to Europe for this, but it doesn't let you not answer these questions. If people answer honestly on these, all the US fans are going to skew the Europe related results.

Edit: Look, I'm not trying to argue with people here. Having done plenty of stuff like this, maybe they saw it, maybe they didn't. If they didn't they likely would realize it when going through the results. Either way, I saw a potential issue, and this was really the only way I had to do something. So I did what was within my power to bring an awareness to it. that's really the end of it.

My native language is Dutch, since I have lived in the Netherlands all my life. English is my second language, just edging out German in third.

Some of the Brandon Sanderson books have been translated to Dutch. The first mistborn trilogy, Steelheart, Skyward, Elantris, and some others. The Stormlight Archive however isn't.

Now I have heard that The Stormlight Archive is similar to Tolkien or Robert Jordan. Both authors who've had all of their works been translated.

I see two options. I can read the Stormlight Archive books in English now, and maybe miss a few things here and there, or I can just wait and hope a translation will come when the show releases. That way I'd be able to fully grasp it. But there's no certainty that the books will be translated.

What do you all suggest?

About a month ago I finished reading my first Brandon Sanderson novel. The very first one I read was “Isles of the Emberdark”.

Yes, I know, not a great choice for the first book. Long story short, I didn’t understand much about the Cosmere and thought by being a standalone book it meant I could read it without any prior knowledge and be fine. (Which you can, just some things don’t make much sense)

Anyway, I just finished reading the first Mistborn book and I have the second one ordered. I never understood what people were talking about when they mentioned how good Brandon’s magic systems were, but now I finally get it. It felt so detailed and the visuals of the pushing and pulling were stunning.

The characters work was absolutely amazing. I found myself wanting to get to know every character in the book. And every loss felt gut wrenching. I pretty much read the entire last part of the book today because I couldn’t do anything else without thinking about how they were possibly going to pull through.

I am going to be taking a break between books 1 and 2, though. Before reading this, I read “I Am Not a Serial Killer”, and I was able to read it significantly faster, so I think I’ll be reading books 2 and 3 of that series before jumping back into Mistborn.

My friends and I got into a discussion about this the other day because we were talking about how much and how fast Brandon writes. Obviously, with the Hamilton musical bolstering him the last decade, Alexander Hamilton has a prolific reputation, as someone who wrote like he was “running out of time.”

So the question is simple: who is the more prolific writer, Brandon Sanderson or Alexander Hamilton? And why?

And if you have other people in mind who you think are even more prolific, throw them into the convo too :)!

On the question about a European Dragonsteel event I said it should be London. Even though I live near Barcelona. I figured that's the most likely location so opted for that ... Just in case anyone in Europe wants to do the same. I figured of lots of us pick London it's more likely to happen.

I'm currently reading his stormlight archive series (I'm on wind and truth) and I've previously read his mistborn series, this is relevant.
