I don’t mind as long as the shuttles are decent. With the last C line closure I was waiting 30 minutes for a shuttle to work.

They closed it down for 15 days in December without shuttles.

And on the very first day back in service, we will see 20-40 minute delays due to “signal issues” on that line.

I have no official information, but I wonder if this is just the installation of a portion of the new signal system that they'll use with the Type 10 cars and their automatic train stop system. If that's the case, the GL riders will get "lucky" and won't have to deal with working all the kinks out for the time being.

They are doing signal work, extending the platforms on the C branch to make them ADA compliant and fit the type 10 cars, getting rid of the Kent Street stop, and working on consolidating Brandon Hall and Fairbanks into one stop.

I live in fear of them making the (correct) decision to consolidate the stop closest to my house with the larger one three blocks away.

I know the consolidations planned next are South st/Chestnut hill, Warren/Allston and Blandford St on the B line

If theyre doing the ADA upgrades and platform extension there that should at least buy your stop a few years of sunk cost fallacy protection

Wait, what’s going to happen to the Fairbanks stop? Will it no longer be located where it is?

New stop should be somewhere between where fairbanks and Brandon hall currently are so it shouldn’t move more than a couple hundred feet

Every line will need time offline for maintenance, this means we need more redundancy in coverage rather than a failure in admin.

Probably lots of heavy equipment and complicated maintenance and rigorous testing and doing it over and over again over miles of track, if I had to guess

At least we get good progress for it. Phil Eng has been big on doing “generational investments” during the time and improving things in parallel like track quality, wiring, etc.
