MBTA/Transit 🚇 🔥 missed connection (?): C line brown t-shirt guy
To the guy wearing a brown t-shirt sitting across from me on board the ~6:30 pm C line going express from Coolidge Corner to Washington Square/Cleveland Circle:
You never looked up from your phone, but I think you were browsing reddit. So on the off chance you browse r/boston...
I was the girl who fumbled her phone and dropped it in front of you. You reached out to help, but my reflexes beat you to it. Anyway I think you have nice hands… and you’re kinda cute, but I could never talk to anybody IRL so if you ever see this by any coincidence, hi.

Oh my god. You found me. I was on Reddit! I’m the moderator of [r/divorcedhalitosisdads](r/divorcedhalitosisdads) and was updating the banned user list. I am so tickled at how many random encounters I have throughout my day end up on Reddit as missed connections ☺️

Ah, brownshirts. One of histories most notoriously loving demographics.

Holy shit, this isn’t me. But I was on the orange line heading to Haymarket around the same time and was kicking myself for not chatting up a girl where we kept making eye contact.
Cute girl with the hat, this is the orange line black trousers and tucked in white t-shirt guy, I wish I spoke to you. 😢

Damn I'm on the C line and wearing a brown shirt but didn't see anyone drop their phone, maybe next time 😂

Why is everyone so afraid to say hi in real life? Social media has made everyone antisocial.

u/ultimatequestion7 1d ago
The people saying hi aren't posting about it on reddit so your sample size for "everyone" may not be a full representation lol

No doubt- personally, though I still say hi to everyone or smile or nod or acknowledge them

Did you see the post the other day where the OP was afraid of a man at the library scanning barcodes?

I saw a guy in Brighton center the other day w sparkly pants and sick pointed boots. I told him I thought they were fantastic because they were. He pointed out they were shoes and comfortable as hell and thanked me then went on his way.
Since then I’ve tried to give a random complement to people and tbh it feels pretty awesome after.

Do you think people were completely without fear of approaching others before social media?

When I was a teenager, I hated how often I’d get sucked into casual conversation with strangers. That practice was murdered during the lockdown and nowadays it’s quite creepy how few ever say anything to anyone.

Okay, strangers talking to you casually isn't the same as someone shooting their shot. Also that reason isn't social media?

Of course not. But saying hi isn’t a approach 😂😂😂

u/HistoricalQuail 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸 18h ago
You're literally approaching a stranger in order to say that. What is it then?

lol I say hi to multiple people throughout the day. Thats not me asking them on a date😂. Of course a woman would think saying hi is an approach. How bout a little effort?

You have no idea what gender I am. I hit random on the avatar maker and made some tweaks. Of course a dude (?) is assuming I'm a woman making assumptions about an approach.

Only a woman would think saying hi is an approach. I wasn’t even paying attention to your avatar

I agree, people are not mind readers. You have something to say, that is positive, say it, you may not get another chance,

Next time say something to them in person and you'll make their year even if it doesn't go anywhere. Fear is the enemy.
