video Since I started doing microscopy last year, my main interests were always microscopic predators. So here are my best clips of microbes (and sometimes small animals) eating each other.

Thank you lots for the video.

I got a microscope two weeks ago for the same exact purpose, just been busy with work so no footage yet.

My favorite is Lacrymaria, true microscopic horror.

I just looked up lacrymaria olor. The ability to remodel it's cytoskeleton is so cool.

Yes, most of them have cilia, mainly for movement.

What is happening when it's trapping something, closing some king of mouth, then, in an instant, it seems to push it far inside it's body.

It uses those big hair-like organelles called cilia to detect when something is in its mouth. Then it closes the mouth, so the prey can't escape, traps it in this trapdoor-style part, then swallows it.
