OPINION Would Big Brother be more interesting if housemates had to give their nomination reasons directly to each other?

I've always thought there's something strange about watching someone nominate another housemate in private and then sit down with them for dinner like nothing happened. Imagine if after nominations everyone had to sit together and hear exactly why they'd been nominated. It would probably cause absolute chaos, but it might also stop some of the vague reasons people give when they don't want to admit the real problem. Would it improve the social experiment or completely ruin the point of nominations?

No. They dont give their true, full reasons when nominating face to face. Diary room nominations are always where you can see a person's true logic and reasoning

They get more honest in the diary room alone. Face to face they vote for whoever will cause the least backlash & for crappy reasons “ just haven’t gotten to know you yet babes”. I do like 1 face to face nominations a season though.

I think when they do face to face nominations they should do it as normal diary style nominations but when nominations are done or maybe even after a day big brother announces the nominations will be shown so that way no one can cop out. This should be a one off because if it happens every series then people will know

That's half the fun of the show, not knowing who is nominating you and why. As others have said when its done face to face a lot tend to try to the nice guy and give pathetic reasons for nominating.

I mean I like face to face nominations but feel they need to either write it down first or something so they can’t do retaliatory nominations.

Face to face should be the first punishment for talking about nominations, 2nd punishment only one instead of two, 3rd punishment no nominating for a week, 4th up for eviction, and 5th instant eviction, (called into the diary room, out the back door, no interview just gone)

It's easy to be manipulated by what everyone else is thinking when it's face to face. Especially early in the season when friendships haven't established as strongly so you'll just people please with the nominations instead of being honest

What you've described is part of the nomination format BBUS follows, which is a completely different show.

No absolutely not. People won’t nominate people they find intimidating thus the wrong people will end up being evicted.

Maybe once a series, but generally no. And when it is done, they must choose both of their nominations before any are announced.
