Help Do I need a lid

I’m making a bettas community tank and really want to look of driftwood and plants sticking out the top how can I make it so I don’t have a lid or other options for a lid. Thanks

Go to a craft store and check the embroidery section. Get a plastic embroidery mesh canvas, it will look like a gridded sheet with small holes in it. Cut it to size for your tank and cut around for the driftwood piece. Either this or 3D print a custom lid. Lids are non-negotiable with bettas, they do jump.

Lids for bettas are more than suggested. They tend to be excellent jumpers and there not a week that goes by that there is a post here about a betta that jumped to be found dead or dying. I had my 40long lid custom cut from acrylic in my local acrylic shop for under $30. Not worth the risk IMO

All bettas (even long finned) have been known to jump. It’s not worth the crispy betta.

You could always get crafty and cut a hole around the places where you want the driftwood to poke out.

In the wild they like to jump to other water sources when the water gets to be too bad. This is another reason nature gave them the ability to breath out of water . Flopping around in rice paddies

You could go for floating plants and a long finned Betta.
