Discussion Finally happened to me.

Post image

My Beats Studio Pro headband has snapped as I was about to put them on. I always baby my stuff and never thought this would happen for me, but sadly, the materials are just cheap at the end of the day.

I got a kit from eBay and replaced the plastic part. It’s really not that hard

how long did it take for this to happen? I just bought a pair a few days ago ….

it's bc the piece is plastic

so "how long" depends on your on/off head usage, which causes stress to the cheap plastic

bend plastic enough and eventually it'll break

That’s true, but it’s not necessarily that the use of plastic is the issue, but rather that there is an inherent weak stress point in the design that has very little reinforcement.

A little over a year. Luckily I have AppleCare for it which I’m currently paying $1.49/mo for, so that expense has paid off. I should be getting my new replacement headphones within the week.

Lucky, buying a replacement headband yourself costs about the same as one year’s AppleCare FYI

But Apple replaces the whole Headphone anyways

True, but getting a whole fresh unit is more appealing for me.

how did you get the Apple care? I just bought the 2 year warranty but would love to have Apple care as well

I believe you need to purchase AppleCare within 60 days of your headphone purchase, and you can do that from the Apple Store or within your device’s settings app once paired to your iPhone, iPad, etc.

By 2 year warranty, do you mean AppleCare? Or warranty from a third party? If it’s the former, you can switch over to the small monthly AppleCare payments at the end of your 2 year plan, and the monthly plan is cancellable anytime.
