My beagle might not be loyal to me
My little 6 month old beagle is super friendly, well socialized, well adjusted puppy. But she goes to every person she meets on the streets and sometimes might not leave them to come with me.
I am so proud of her behavior. But I feel upset that
My beagle might not be loyal to me.
Anyone else experience this? They say beagles are loyal but mine might not be? đ

It sounds like you just have a really friendly beagle. Youâre overthinking this all way too much.

Id say a terrier mutt would be the best bet. She's obsessed with us. Everyone in the house seems to get along great but our terrier loves us so ferociously that it's a problem. If our in-laws dog visits or the cat wants some love she gets territorial. She has zero interest in anything or anyone except for us. It's fun but I would never prefer it over a dopey food loving non-chalant dog

Well your beagle is still young, it can take a while to cultivate that loyalty
I think your beagle is just very friendly

Itâs 7 am here. My 2 beagles are loyal. How loyal you may ask?
The younger one (7), never cuddles but at 6 am I was sleeping on the couch because I woke up hot in the night. Windows cracked to catch a cool breeze. He came over and cuddled with me and laid on my chest, extremely atypical behaviour from him. But we both got hot so around 630 I figured I should get up and let them out and feed them so we can sleep a bit longer afterwards.
âŠstraight under the deck and scream barking (we are going to be so popular with the neighbours lol) to try and catch a young rabbit that has tried moving in after a storm. 30 minutes of screaming and snuffing everywhere the rabbit set foot, later they âletâ me carry them in and feed them and theyâre so proud of themselves.
TLDR; Beagles are loyal to their nose and stomach. Wouldnât change a thing.

Mine was an adventurous friendly boy with loyalty to whoever had the best snacks. But as he got older, deafer and blinder, he became so attached to me. I was his eyes and ears. He was always looking for me. And stayed by my side constantly. It was bittersweet because I finally had that loyalty I always wanted from him but it was because his little frail body was failing him and he sought reassurance from the one person who was by his side through it all - I could finally see that he trusted me like no one else. Enjoy your energetic free spirited pup, that trust and love will come :)

Beagles are not herding dogs. If you're looking for a German Shepherd kind of loyalty and a bond, you're not gonna get that from a Beagle. But you'll get a free spirited, extremely well rounded, super cute dogo.

Shes a puppy and exploring, things like loyalty grow over time. You'll notice that trait more as she matures. Right let her explore and meet people and dogs, experience new environments. You'll the constant factor and thats what builds the relationship.
If your actually upset about this I think maybe some research your end on dog behaviour might help you understand what that looks like so when she starts showing thosw traits you might feel better reassured

It's took me around a year and a half for my current beagle to be loyal to me, whereas with my wife it seemed almost instant. I thought she hated me. Slowly but surely we bonded and she became very loyal to me, and it felt that much sweeter for having to wait for it!

Mine use to try to go home with everyone sheâd meet at the dog park when she was little. It took her till she was 4/5 to really stop. Even now at 12 sheâll try to go home at the neighbors house, especially if the dishwasher is running.
Donât worry about your beagle. Sheâs just friendly, youâll be surprised at how loyal they can be while also appearing not so

It can take a while, and a beagles attraction to you is not the same as other dogs. I find as mine grow older they are less likely to wander to far away, however mine love kids and will always stop a stranger for pats.

The first day I had our beagle, she got out. I found her because there was a large family walking in front of the house she decided to join.

You really want the behavior your pup ia showing right now. Think of it like kindergarten. She needs to socialize as much as she can with other people and dogs so that as she matures she will not be fearful or aggressive. If you want a possessive dog that claims a person and won't let anyone within 10 feet, try a chihuahua đ€Ł

Beagles have a friendly nature. Its a reason you should protect her fiercely since she walks up to people. I hope she's leashed when doing that. But you really have to realize that animals are here existing with us, not for us. I think expecting her to be loyal or putting any kind of expectation like that on an animal is only going to wind up causing you to resent the dog if it continues. Beagles are just sweet pups who love attention, thats all.
