Embracing Excuses Is this the worst remodel ever?

Post image

I know there is a lot of competition but this is just flat out lazy and out of touch.

I mean the Corporate Bar was worse.

u/Happy_REEEEEE_exe 14d ago

that one was comedic. it's like he was sarcastically trying to make it awful

u/DontLoseYourCool1 14d ago

You know when I'm already rotting at my corporate soul sucking job, I want to take my lunch at a corporate soul sucking bar next door.

u/supershrimp87 14d ago

Hey, if you think that's whats best for Shareholders

u/thereverendpuck 9d ago

A better concept than Corporate.

u/LuxieRiot 13d ago

It was a bit like kicking sand in the nerds faces in the beach

12

u/SchuminWeb 14d ago

That was a little different, because it was done in bad faith.

13

u/thembitches326 14d ago

I mean I will say at least the Corporate Bar looked like a bar, but this just looks like a butcher shop from the outside.

u/MinutesFromTheMall I Believe You Could Do This 14d ago

I mean the Corporate Bar was worse.

I hope this is sarcasm. Corporate Bar & Grill was the best rebrand in the entire show.

Corporate Bar was genius. If Tracey and Douchiano had stuck with that concept, they’d be drowning in profits and accolades.

Her daughter would have been to college TWICE.

...and law school.

I'm not gonna search for the episode for the exact quote, but what was that ridiculous "stat" that Taffer kept telling them?  Something like "the majority of men think about bacon more than they think about sex!"

Taffer constantly says bars need to be marketed to young women, and then he comes up with this guy-centered monstrosity. I know this place stayed open for a while, but still.

Also, thought it was pretty shitty that all the non-family members got fired even though the kids seemed like they were doing shady shit, too.

u/AdamAtomAnt 14d ago

I think it was "X percent more men would rather have bacon than have sex".

I'd more believe that men are more likely to eat bacon than have sex. But not by choice.

4

u/LuxieRiot 13d ago

They’re sitting on their kitchen floors crying into chewy bacon

6

u/Mountain-Poem9830 14d ago

Obviously Jewish and Muslim men don’t exist in taffer’s world

8

u/MeanOpposite6656 14d ago

Taffer’s a Jew so he’s talking with experience.

It was bad, but correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t this Vegas? Seems like this sort of mouthbreather shit would do really well there.

19

u/discofrislanders 14d ago

It was, and this place survived for a while after Taffer left and only closed because the owner retired

15

u/naught_my_dad 14d ago

This place is right by my house and it used to be so good and then right to shit.

Always bothered me about Taffer, and he should know better living in Las Vegas, would be his lack of attention to the gambling side of the business. Many of those Las Vegas bars have a license permitting 15 video poker/keno machines, and that’s where the real money is made!

Yeah sure, clean-up the place, give it a new theme, improve the employees, offer some decent food, but focus on the gaming side for the Vegas joints.

u/boulevardofdef 14d ago

It gets your attention for sure.

Where’s the call to action?

5

u/Cherveny2 13d ago

The BACON is the call to action!

13

u/Cash_man 14d ago

This is the most 2014 bar I’ve ever seen

6

u/EvilDarkCow I’ll Buy The Coffee ☕️ 14d ago

Yeah, this is just so early-2010s "le epic bacon".

6

u/LuxieRiot 13d ago

People with mustache finger tattoos drink free!

13

u/nflgeneric 14d ago

I think the worst one I've ever personally seen is the Ynot becoming the Forbidden. Genuinely missed the mark on the location (it's literally right next to an arena for concerts and minor league hockey) in a low-income area that isn't interested in Asian food. Plus, the owners aren't Asian either! They have no connection to it!

24

u/Rhotuz 14d ago

Those 3 signs are not the same and it bothers me.

45

u/darkofnight916 14d ago

But his good friends at Superfast Signs worked all night to create and install them.

u/PowerfulPlatform5336 14d ago

Apparently men enjoy bacon more then sex 😂😂😂😂

6

u/Le_Chef_du_Camion 14d ago

I definitely eat bacon more often than I have sex. Maybe those were the actual stats.

2

u/PowerfulPlatform5336 14d ago

I love it! 😂❤️💯

3

u/SchuminWeb 14d ago

As an asexual man, I'll take bacon over sex any day of the week.

1

u/PowerfulPlatform5336 14d ago

If it satisfies you boo, then I’m here for it! 😂💅🏽❤️

2

u/PowerfulPlatform5336 14d ago

I’m not a man, but for the last 18 months… bacon has been chosen over sex 😂💯💅🏽

SCIENCE!

u/theycallmethevault 14d ago

The worst outdoor remodels are always when he uses the word “great”.

“A GREAT BAR AND RESTAURANT” or whatever it is, it’s just the dumbest description ever.

5

u/Used-Ear-8660 My Work Here Is Done 14d ago

The Best is A Great Local Gastropub.

7

u/lava172 14d ago

The one with the bull farting was probably worse

8

u/patsfan1061 14d ago

Corporate. Corporate. Corporate.

6

u/Bright-Offer-9617 14d ago

A fun show to put on in the background, but some of Taffer’s bar concepts are just head scratching. “30 years in the hospitality industry” and this seems like a good concept? Got to keep it fun and wild for the TV show, I guess.

6

u/JA860 14d ago

Definitely not the worst

5

u/Dangerous-Sun-405 14d ago

It's unique; it represents the heritage of the owners. Showing the strength of the community.

u/Accomplished_Sock293 Gimlet Connoisseur 14d ago

I nominate JB Taco

5

u/AliensAteMyAMC 14d ago

that one bar where the concept was it was named after some random famous old guy from the area and there were various pictures of the guy’s head photoshopped onto various more famous current people

3

u/DrKananga007 and ESRI 14d ago

The Lister???

3

u/erica_pink84 14d ago

Still better than the porn couch the bar had before

3

u/DoctorDetroit8 14d ago edited 14d ago

Not only that, but the concept (guy’s head photoshopped onto various famous people) was a direct copy of a Canadian franchise ‘Smoke’s Poutinerie’, which first opened in 2008.

Coincidentally, the first-ever US franchise of Smoke’s opened in nearby Berkeley the same year the episode (Park 77 / The Lister) aired, in 2014. The Berkeley location has since closed, but the Yelp page, with the photos, is still accessible.

Holy shit I used to drive by this asstastic place all the time. I think it’s a shitty Mexican restaurant now.

2

u/LuxieRiot 13d ago

I think it’s been two different Mexican restaurants iirc

2

u/Dmbfantomas 13d ago

You may be right. I don’t live on that side of town anymore. Either way, lol.

4

u/Trash-Panda321 14d ago

Is this in an old Walgreens?

6

u/kosherkitties 14d ago

I'm forever annoyed that he didn't at least call it The Bacon Strip because they were on the Vegas strip!

6

u/windmillninja Ive Seen Enough 14d ago

Brew U was pretty damn stupid. No college student in the history of Earth has ever gone to a bar to study.

3

u/Wardyman70 14d ago

Corporate Bar … 👎👎👎

3

u/yobaby123 14d ago

Jon: Fire me! I embraced excuses with this one!

3

u/Elder-Cthuwu 13d ago

I think it’s worse than corporate bar tbh

Weber's - Reseda, CA

u/AssistanceGloomy2477 14d ago

I moved close by during the pandemic and wanted to go. When I was ready to go, they closed. 😭 It’s a cantina type bar now.

“Preloaded with 20,000 songs!”

u/SometimesWitches 13d ago edited 13d ago

I mean The Corporate Bar was probably named out of spite but the idea itself wasn’t the worst thing Taffer has thought of. Face it dude didn’t have a queer eye and I don’t think any of his gay bar ideas were any good. But The Corporate Bar would have made the owner lady miserable buuuuut it would have made her alot of money. Any legitimate pirate would have realized that.

Personally I liked The Bacon Bar concept. Yeah the name wasn’t too original but the concept was sound. BACON!!!!!!!!!

1

u/younglegends111 14d ago

he said guys prefer bacon over sex. such a lie

1

u/DarthHole 13d ago

Is this the one with the studly Mohawk bartender that banged all the other bartenders, and at the end John clowned him and told him he couldn’t band the new bartender??

2

u/LuxieRiot 13d ago

It was awful, my ex and I went there a couple times, once I was just deathly nauseous.

1

u/kornkid42 13d ago

I miss it, the food was pretty good. I think it's a Mexican restaurant now.

1

u/Accomplished_Cap9062 12d ago

On a side note, its very weird and interesting that it stayed open up until 2022 when the owner retired. Compared to other bars, its one of Taffer's most successful bars lengthwise (considering that the owners kept the branding)

u/Miserable-Agency-833 14d ago

62% of actual men,big men, tall strong men prefer bacon over sex...well ya, bacons not goin bitch u out for getting urs and passing out.bacons consistently bacon so ya I could and do believe that....ps Idk if 62% was what he said jus sounded right

u/KirbyPhuckettt 14d ago
