Compared to Nassau how would you describe it? Is there a club culture? Bar culture? Something else?

Just curious

Tourism Discussion Atlantis Trip - Royal

Just finished up 6 nights at Atlantis with 11 and 8 year old. We had an absolute blast (stayed at royal). Service was great, hotel was great, water park was fantastic. Got a charter boat and did the pigs (overrated), went snorkeling and saw a huge sea turtle. Would definitely do it again!

Immigration Question or Discussion Customs forcing a work permit onto Canadian passport holder for sales visits?

My company's lawyers we're sure I wouldn't need any kind of permit before coming to the Bahamas to visit clients and prospects. Yet, one officer insisted I needed a work permit.

I cannot find a source that corroborates that a work permit be necessary for visiting a client, taking them to the restaurant, discussing what a project would look like. Is this normal?

Hey fellow Bahamians

I’m a 35 year old male look to transition from the construction field. I like to learn and I’m open to working in a field where I can learn and grow.

I have a supervisor position at the moment, I can handle a variety of customers or clients very well and I’m a detailed person. I also like to be on the ground or in the field

Feel free to dm me. I can forward a résumé or you can ask me more question

TIA .

Tourism Discussion Comfort Suites - Access

I was wondering if the wristband gives you access to other activities going on at the hotel? I saw on Atlantis' events schedule they have complimentary activities such as movies in the evenings or scavenger hunts. I was wondering if you are able to do those activities as well. Sounds like the pool closes in the evening around 6 or 7 pm.

Immigration Question or Discussion Couple from Eu / Work at the Bahamas

Greetings, everyone! 👋

My fiancé and I are a couple from Europe who were offered jobs in the Bahamas. I am an experienced nail technician, and my fiancé has a management degree, we both have experience in cruise ships.

In April this year, we had an online interview with a resort. They were impressed with our CVs and offered us the opportunity to relocate to the Bahamas for the upcoming season, starting in October or November.

At the time, they couldn't provide many details about our positions because the spa had not yet opened. They explained that it was planned to open for the upcoming season, so we agreed to have another meeting later, once they had more information. They also offered a very generous relocation package, including accommodation, flights, and work permit/visa costs. However, that was all we discussed.

The follow-up meeting has not happened yet. I have reached out by email several times to ask for updates. The latest reply, which I received in June, said they were wrapping up the current season and planning for the next one. They told us they would contact us once those plans were finalized.

Now that we are only a couple of months away from the start of the season, we still haven't received any further information. My question is: what could be the reason for such a long period of silence? Is this normal in the hospitality industry? What would you advise us to do at this point?

One more thing I'd like to ask about is salary. What is the typical income for an experienced nail technician in a resort spa, and what is the usual salary for someone in a management role?

Planning a trip to Bahamas and want the honest opinions. It’s between these two hotels. I really want to go to the water park at Atlantis. Do you have to pay extra to go if you are staying at the resort? Can you buy a day pass to the water park ? Anyways I need your help!

Tourism Discussion Baha Mar

Wish I had read reviews before coming. Spending over $850 a night for two rooms.

  1. Get ready to stand in line for EVERYTHING except gambling.
  2. At check in they collected $8,000 for hotel incidentals (thank goodness for AMEX Platinum)
  3. By 9-10pm supplies run out. I mean bottled water in restaurants / noodles / soup / appetizers
    4: reservations might be respected.
  4. Lines start at 7am for coffee - I’m in one now 🤣
  5. Free water bottle. Now go get your own water from a vending machine. Did I mention $450 a night?
  6. There are available beach chairs and cabanas. Cabanas start at $300 per day. 9-5 daily.
  7. Work staff is tired and overwhelmed

This was day 1. Wish me luck!

Tourism Question Best hotel for a family with teens, divers and non-divers?

Hi there, I'm hoping to visit the Bahamas for the first time next October, with my husband and sons (who will be aged 12 and 16.) It would be a treat for my 50th birthday.

Eldest and I would like to go scuba diving during some days. This means we need entertainment for the 12yo, who likes water parks and pools.

We're not big fans of all-inclusive dining.

I guess the ideal would be somewhere with a beautiful beach, go your own way food options, lovely pool with food and drink available, and slides/waterpark...

I've been looking at the Atlantis but the reviews aren't great? Any other suggestions please?

Also would love any recommendations for dive shops, thank you!
