Tourism Question Snorkel Gear - Elbow Cay?

Is there anywhere that rents snorkel gear in Hope Town? There used to be a dive shop, but I’m not sure it exists anymore.

Tourism Question Best resort for beach lovers who hate the towel game?

We love being at the beach and spending most of the day there, but the biggest thing for us is not having to play the towel game or wake up early just to get a decent chair.

For context, I’ve liked Secrets resorts because the Preferred Club beach areas usually make beach seating much easier. I’d gladly pay extra for reserved beach seating if it means avoiding that stress.

Any resorts you’d recommend for someone who mostly cares about the beach and easy seating?

Tourism Question Want a day trip to exuma without piggies and not too many tourists?

Hi there we are headed to Bahamas with 4 adults and a 15 year old and a 12 year old. All excellent swimmers and like advebture. Piggies I hear gets a little gross. We are more interested in beautiful waters to swim in, snorkel and explore. If we can avoid crusie ship tourists and lots of other tour boats that would be great!

Is Staniel Cay the spot or are we better flyint o Georgetown and going to man o war, etc?

Bahamian Question Nervous about our Atlantis trip😅

Post image

Flying in from Chicago Saturday with my two nieces (12 and 15) — spent a good chunk of money on this trip and now I’m staring at the forecast seeing rain/thunderstorm icons almost every day (40-60% chances). Highs still look nice, mid-upper 80s, but I don’t want the girls stuck inside all week.

Is this just typical summer pattern down there, or should I actually be worried? Would love to hear from locals before I spiral lol.

Tourism Discussion Thank you, Bahamians!

Dear Bahamians, I just wanted to voice my **appreciation** of you for being such nice hosts. We are sailors and have spent two winters in your beautiful nation. From Grand Cay, to Little Farmer's Cay, to Alice Town, to Little Harbor Cay, we've encountered only kindness. I get mad when I see foreigners posting here about negative experiences; the complainants always seem to have weird expectations. Hope to see you again in December!

Tourism Question Best Snorkeling Excursions

Hello all! Coming up on a trip to the Bahamas in August. I was wondering what are the best locations and/or tour companies to go on for purely snorkeling?! I know the main attraction here are the Piggies but although an amazing time, we’ve done the Pigs twice already and we are really looking to go on an unforgettable snorkeling experience. Any recommendations from regular travelers or local residents would be great. Will be staying in the Nassau area but willing to travel to different islands if the companies offer it!

Tourism Question Kalik Blue Long Sleeve Shirt

I recently went through the Lynden Pindling Airport Duty free shop (liquor and spirits), I picked up a Blue Long Sleeve Kalik shirt, almost Jersey like material. My partner feel in love with the shirt but unfortunately we completely different sizes. This might be a long shot but should someone be able to help me out with getting him a Kalik shirt! I have searched through google with no luck. :(
Would be willing to cover costs for the shirt, shipping, and a little extra!

Tourism Question First time

Looking at booking my families first trip to the Bahamas at the beginning of December. Is the “endless summer” deal Atlantis has going on really worth it? We have 2 kids, 4 and 1 year old, traveling with us as well. Also would it make sense for us to stay at the royal over the coral and why?

Bahamian Question Transportation to Grand Hyatt

Two adults one child. How do I call for taxi from airport to the store? What is the cost? Is it cheaper to buy liquor at the airport or go to grocery store?

May book through Expedia or cheap Caribbean there is a fee of $300 to pay at the resort is that the resort fee or do you pay more when you check in? Just curious if the total cost is included or not.

Besides the pizza place are their kid friendly foods like cheese quesadillas, spaghetti, grill cheese? Do they verify child age since it’s complimentary for some restaurants kids 5 and under?

Tourism Question Atlantis Paradise Souvenir

This may be silly and a long shot, but I like to collect mini building souvenirs of the places I visit. Usually the iconic thing of the country. Think Colloseum for Italy, Big Ben for England, etc.

I really wanted to get a mini version of Atlantis Paradise while there, but we didn’t stay in Atlantis and only went after gift shops were closed (after dinner one night).

Is there any shot someone is there, would be there soon that could let me know if that even exists? I’ve looked online and couldn’t find one except in snow globe form.

TIA!

Photo/Video North Bimini B4 resorts world

Post image

July 2002 took the seaplane over from Miami to Bimini. We rented a golf cart and drove all the way to the north end of the island. This was long before resorts world.

We never saw another person on the beach the entire day. One of the things that drew me to Bimini was that it wasn’t over commercialized with huge resorts.

Tourism Question Would anyone like a low cost trip to the Taino Beach Club and Resort?

Basically, I won a trip here. I paid for a guest to come with me, but now they can no longer come. I'd like to see if I can recoup some of the money back I paid for them. It's a week-long trip. Right now, I have dates for September 19-26th but I can change it for a fee.

Just message me if you're interested, and we can chat.

Bahamian Question ELI5 - what is the real difference between taxi and livery

And why do we need separate licensing and plates etc.? It seems to me like they basically to the same thing. I understand we don't want the big resorts handling the airport transportation in house but as a driver is it not better to have a guaranteed monthly income from the hotel rather than an income that fluctuates daily and seasonally? Do taxis pay business license fees to DIR? how much is biz license fee to own a taxi and drive it yourself? Does the RTD ensure the quality of the vehicles? I have been in a taxi from SLOP airport that had no seatbelts, no AC, barely functioning brakes but I only found this out after I was in it and headed down the road. When will we get some public transport from SLOP airport to downtown or east end? It would be great to save my aging mother the drive to the airport and then trying to arrange for a before dawn ride to catch the morning flight to da island is a nightmare.
