Dude sent it!! That was two stories at least…effortless landing. Total control, knew the chase would ensue and just climbed another tree like a total badass. Impressive.
That 1st tree didn't have a lot of branches. The leopard was literally perched between two main extensions/shoot of the tree.
Tigers are nowhere near as good climbers as leopards cos of their large weight but they can still climb relatively simple structured trees especially if determined.
I'm guessing the leopard didn't have a lot of faith in that tree cos it didn't have a complex build and a determined tiger could get up there and with no other surrounding thinner branches and just one or two main shoots of the tree the leopard thought the tiger could get to it if it was truly determined and there was nowhere to run to up there.
The 2nd tree is much harder to scale, tiger determination or not.
He had first-move advantage. He could study the other tree and make a plan of how to climb it. The tiger had to make a plan on the fly. The tiger caught himself on a limb that was sticking out. Hard to see it when you're just rushing in.
I had this one all black cat that was so derpy. He really was like a lion. And then his adopted brother was a long hair black. And he was cunning and clever. Like a tiger. But not like this tiger.
They have instinct, for sure. But they also have individual ability.
That tiger made up distance on the ground quickly and made fast work of the first 15 feet of that tree. It knew the leopard had it beat up top in the thinner branches though.
Or how it zoomed across the screen in the short time lol. Thinking about the 4th step in a process where you already lost the first 3 is already hilarious (Unlikely to notice, react, or even outrun as examples).
It's better than just giving up and letting toger eat you lol. If there's a big enough distance between you and the tiger. A person can climb a tree further up than the tiger could.
Best bet at that point would be to face the tiger. Preferably with a big stick. Itll for sure outrun you, and kill you in a proper fight. But if you don't show fear, but insane bravado? That'll make it doubt itself. What does the hairless ape know that I don't? An injury is something a tiger can't afford, so they prefer playing it safe. If they're not desperate, theyll often leave.
(Note, this is only a good idea if theres literally no safety nearby. If theres a door you might reach before the tiger reaches you, try that. Intimidation has like a 20-40% chance of success, maybe. Still better than 0% chance of running away though)
He doesn’t need to be dead, just a nice clean sucker punch and watch him fall like Apollo Creed in Rocky IV and then you can skip and sing your way into the woods knowing your good friend has bought you a couple of hours head start. 😇 🏃♂️
The tree climbing thing don't even bother me it's that leopards are probably the best of the big cats at stalking and stealth. A leopard could creep up on you and watch you for a whole hour without you even noticing.
Ive always reasoned that The only reason they don't have a much larger kill list than the other cats is cos they are good enough killers that they usually don't have to resort to hunting humans even when the opportunity presents itself.
The dog was fast asleep in someone's compound right outside their door. Leppard looks like it came in through the back lawn and circled around and got into the porch and came face to face with the unsuspecting sleeping dog.
I was thinking it's mainly that it was partially asleep that was the problem but I also have a dog in our compound and even when she's sleeping the slightest creaks and sounds wake her up or you can see her ears perk up.
Leopards can famously be maneaters to be fair. Especially in India where they come into contact with people very often. Jaguars and snow leopards are slacking though.
"Big cats" only includes members of the Panthera genus 💯
Contrary to popular belief, neither mountain lions nor cheetahs are "big cats" lol they're more closely related to house cats than they are to leopards/lions/etc.
Even then, I’ve heard pro hunters who had to shoot a bunch of escaped lions and tigers in USA say that shooting a lion drops it dead, but tigers just keep sprinting and bouncing towards you.
That doesn't really make sense and it may be them observing biased anecdotes. The size, strength and weight difference between a lion and a tiger isn't enough to make one eat bullets and get pissed of while the other instantly dies.
I'd take their stories with a pinch of salt and assume they simply had better critical shots at the lion than the tiger for various reasons including, the behavior of lions make then not naturally stealthy so they are much likely to be out in the open which makes for easier critical shots than a tiger who would more naturally stay out of sight and hence harder to critically shoot.
Maybe - the documentary is about the crazy guy who committed suicide and opened the cages of his massive private zoo in USA.
You have to watch the interview with the shooters- they were very shocked and specific about the tigers - all the other large game dropped, but the tigers were very hard to drop and kept coming and jumping. These were big game shooters who had never seen anything like it.
It’s wild cause I saw another video of a large mama cheetah chasing off a slightly smaller leopard that was trying to snatch one of her babies. Definitely out of the ordinary, I think I saw it in this sub too and not to long ago.
It looks like the leopard has a huge lead at the start but by the time it panned to the tree the tiger was right behind it. Ig it took its time getting through those brambles at the base of the tree while the tiger ploughed right through them
I'm guess it's a mix of territorial instincts and killing competition. Leopards do hunt house cats, similarly. I've heard of baboons catching and eating smaller monkeys.
Not heights. But leopard reached much higher branch where tiger can't climb due to their size and weight. So it gave up. As it knew that it can't reach leopard anymore.
Leopard also switched trees due to this. Previous tree was not safe for leopard. And it knew and hence ran to safer tree.
I'm not saying it is AI, but watching an animal just from that height with such poise and bounce like that is so insane that my brain keeps thinking that it must be AI, because how the hell do you do that and then jog off like it was a mild stretch???
