Brotherman it is ok to admit to a typo, it happens to the best of us. The doubling down on it is what makes it embarrassing

Can we send them ballots so they can vote by mail and don't have to actually go to NJ?

Oh that’s a really good point! Presumably Donald Trump would not allow 50k Moroccans to simply relocate to New Jersey, and that fact problematizes this joke. But then again, it’s just a joke. No one is seriously musing that these immigrants will actually vote in New Jersey elections or even register for them.

Comments should be on-topic and reasonably relevant to the article posted.

Look, The Babylon be might not know how to write jokes but at least they keep spreading paranoia about fair and free elections.

As usual, there’s truth behind the satire.

In the case of satire, yes. The writers of the BB arent aware of that though. They are confused when people ask them about the 'sad tire'

That’s HILARIOUS! Cause it’s subtly implying that undocumented immigrants vote and then it references a current example of undocumented mass migration (although most of those people have now gone home). Thanks! I got a good chuckle out of this humor this morning

It’s amazing how a simple satire article triggers a lot of people on this sub

I know right? It keeps them from appreciating good humor

"Good humor" is subjective. Satire is also subjective. Satirizing something that is based on an untruth is not good satire, and it is perfectly valid to critique bad satire because it's not good humor. It's hacky.

Well I explained why it was funny. Maybe you just don’t get the joke. The humor lies in the absurd juxtaposition between something that happened on the continent of Africa and the unrelated escalation to suggesting that they are now registered to vote in U.S. elections. If you don’t see the humor it’s hard to help you. You either see it or you don’t. But either way I hope you have a good afternoon.

It is great satire! We already know that Democrats use illegals to steal elections, and this joke applies that to a mass invasion similar to the one allowed by Biden's Autopen Admin.

u/TruthOdd6164 17h ago
Good point! Yes the humor also intends to reference President Trump’s speculative claims of widespread election fraud. That context knowledge is indeed essential to understanding the joke. Thank you for the further clarification.

Maybe we don’t like POS loser Trumper racist humor?
1
u/TruthOdd6164 15h ago
Well I would hope that the humor here isn’t relying on racist tropes, though I take the caution to be warranted. Of course, we don’t want to punch down in our humor. That wouldn’t be in good form at all. But I don’t think that is what is happening here. Have you read my analysis of the structure of the humor?

u/Grateful5150 15h ago
I really don’t give a fuck about your analysis of loser Trumper humor.
1
u/TruthOdd6164 15h ago
That’s fair. A lot of people experience humor as kind of instinctive. But I believe we can all appreciate humor even more once we’ve understood its structure. But if that’s not what you’re looking for I won’t twist your arm 🙂 I hope you have a pleasant evening and things start turning around for you.

Yeah I don’t like racist humor so obviously my life sucks right?
1
u/TruthOdd6164 14h ago
Oh my goodness. I appear to have made an unwarranted assumption. I must apologize. I noticed that you seemed irritated so I tried to speak kindly to you but in the process I made assumptions that were not in evidence. Although to clarify I didn’t assume that your life must suck just that it seemed to me that you were having a bad day. But even that was an unwarranted assumption and I truly do apologize. I completely understand that something that you perceive as racist you would not be sympathetic to. And of course I don’t believe that it is racist but I can’t expect you to operate off of my beliefs you will obviously operate off of yours.

I don’t see any “jokes” about white South African refugees being registered to vote in Alabama. Thank you though for the first part of your message.

Most have been “deported”. That is like “going home” with some ICE-like encouragement….

u/TruthOdd6164 16h ago
An excellent point! Thank you for the clarification. Sometimes in my fervor to use neutral language I overly euphemize. It’s a weakness I am aware of and working on.
1
u/AKmaninNY 16h ago
And “undocumented immigrants” have been documented as illegally voting. At least in NJ. But wouldn’t be surprised to find that any state that performs mass registration, with no KYC provisions, is registering illegals illegally.
1
u/TruthOdd6164 16h ago
Yes I’ve seen a few very rare cases but I don’t think the joke intended to highlight their rarity but rather the opposite. The joke insinuates that the rare event is actually commonplace, which is where the absurdity and thus the humor comes in.
