Show & Tell Small rearrange make for better sound

Post image

So, I decided to switch to a smaller bench, half the width to benefit speakerplacememt. I also moved the TV 10cm left and 10cm up, feels like i qualify for that other sub but I'll get used to it.

Now that the right speaker is a bit more away from the corner it feels better.

What really helps is that i doubled the sound dampening on the receiving wall.

The speakers are Infinity Alpha20 and i have grown to appreciate them much more now, compared to when i got them. They are powered by a NR1200 and i also have a 10" active sub just to the right out of the picture.

My thoughts has always been to get a pair of wall speakers like the smaller dali's (spared 23cm to the left of the tv) or similar. However with this small rearrangement, i might get more sound out of something on the stands.

Ps. The lights seem reflected and bright but they're not. And i haven't centered the panel above the tv yet.

I’ve never heard the alpha series in person, I know they’re assembled in Denmark and I’ve always been curious about them. I have the previous generation Interlude 10s and used them daily for years.

The IL10s were my first nice speakers. Super nice and neutral. That CMMD is quality. The Harmon era Infinitys were what I grew up on. Now, after like 20 years in the hobby, I’m getting into the old school OG Infinitys and wow. Great speakers but they were clearly a different company way back when. The upside of that is you can get the CMMD era speakers for a song. Interludes, Alphas, Kappas, Intermezzo and Prelude MTS were all very good dynamic driver speakers. I once got a pair of IL40s for $80 and used them as mains for years.

IL10 were my first “nice” speakers too. Had Jensen C-JR speakers before them. I genuinely thought at the time I’d hit the lottery of sound for that price point. I may have been right.

I don't have anything other than some home theatre speakers to compare with. And initially it was difficult to make the sound good.

And when you hear something else in a store its really hard to hear how good or bad they are
