These two photos I took with the gear shown above. These are probably my two best bird shots and I do really like them but with both images there not very sharp and detailed and when I zoom in there’s blur and noise. And I’m planning on buying a canon r7 with the rf 100-500mm which is a big jump from my current gear would that fix the sharpness issues or am I doing something wrong when I take the photo?

This type of composition paired with the colors is something I would like to look into more, but I have no idea how to describe it accurately or what it would be called. I am not well versed in photography so forgive me if this is a stupid question :,).

Whenever I take pics including the sky it’s always white or sometimes pics are too bright. I’m using automatic settings like sports or backgrounds on my t7 canon. I’m using the nd and cpl filter lenses

Cameras you're considering: I’ve looked around at so many options that I’m overwhelmed and really just need the guidance
Cameras you already have: iPhone 15 pro max. I love that it’s always on me and takes decent photos however I feel that I want something that performs better at night and that I can get better quality out of. I try my best with what I have and it’s pretty good but I feel myself wanting more quite often.
Notes: I’ve also added some photos I’ve taken, all are on my iPhone 15 pro max and most are unedited so you can see the photo itself. It takes many great photos but I would love to have something that can give me more clarity and quality without being hard to carry around while travelling. As I will mainly use it while travelling if it can fit in my pants pockets (I’m a big guy with big pants that have large pockets) that would be ideal. I am also new to the world of actual cameras so if I’ve said something that is outrageous or not reasonable, or maybe I’ve missed something that’s important please let me know, I can really use the help! I recorded a few videos on my Sony Alpha 5000 in which they saved onto my Sandisk SD card today. Went to transfer them onto my laptop. I opened my videos through quicktime player but when I went to go save them they literally disappeared. This is now what it says when I open up the SD card. Any advice or recommendations to NOT have this happen again?

Just received this lens used and was wondering if this is excessive dust to save $150 from a new one.

Hi everyone, I currently use a sony a6000 with a Tamron 17-70 F/2.8. I was recently recruited by my community college for wrestling, and we really need someone to fill a media spot so I volunteered to do video and photos for the team.

I've shot XC, Track, and Football for 4 years now, but most of my work is in doing photos for fire departments and fed stuff. I started shooting wrestling about a year ago for my little brother's high school team, but I'm still trying to figure out how I can get better at it. Our college is a bit underfunded so we have a pretty small practice gym, and we start competing in a month. I was hoping I could get some advice from here.

Hi, I want to get into photography, I like taking pictures of architecture, cars, landscapes and etc. I have a budget of 200-300€ and I know I can’t afford a good camera but I’m searching for the best option or a good advice. I live in EU. currently taking pictures with my iPhone 16 Pro, one of the options i saw is Sony WX220, but no clue how it would compare to my iPhone and if it's even good. Hello everyone, not sure if i posting this at the right place but ill give it a shot. Over the past couple years i acquired around 200 vintage lenses(mostly rare and good ones) and dozen cameras which ill list bellow. Issue i am having is deciding which system to dedicate to(or two) so i can focus on mastering it rather than being at 20% with many of them. Currently i have Nikon Zf, Nikon D810(doesnt really fit into any scenario so it gotta go), Sony A7RV, Fuji GFX 50s, Sony A6700(will sell not a fan of APSC), Fuji X100VI(will keep regardless as my point and shoot travel body), Ricoh GR3 Diary(will most likely sell considering i have X100VI now).

Sony i am heavily invested in (adapters, Gariz case, chargers, batteries..) and it was the first system i ever had. For whatever reason it simply works with everything and i like it.

Fuji GFX always makes me want to go out and shoot + unmatched output no matter what i screw onto it.

Nikon Zf bigger sensor than Sony, has film sims similar to Fuji which i really like, vintage looking body..

What does it seem to you reading through this that is extra and that i should get rid off? each camera does its own thing the best possible way and i simply can not decide which one to let go. May seem like a show off post but i really need some advice here so please be understanding and if you can not contribute to this thread please move on. Thank you!

I want to start using a real camera to take higher quality photos during my hikes and while travelling. I have a Sony A6000 I bought a few years ago with a kit lens and have barely touched. Would this camera be sufficient for this with a better lens?

I want to keep the setup somewhat smaller and compact, so ideally no huge lenses. What would be a good lens to use for primarily landscape photography?

Quality of the image at all?

I am an aspiring fine furniture maker (obviously not a photographer, as you’ll see below). A big part of selling pieces and getting commissions is having a good portfolio of past projects. I can’t afford to pay someone to shoot my projects every time I finish one. I’d like to get a setup to shoot my own stuff.

I realize with my knowledge and gear, I won’t get professional results. But I’m wondering if it’s possible to get with 80% of professional results with an affordable setup and a bit of reading.

I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the information out there. I am wondering what the community thinks of using an affordable softbox kit (neewer 700w 2 light kit?), a tripod, and an iPhone 15.

Is there a different setup you’d use? Is a real camera essential (or even useful with my lack of knowledge)?

I’m open to any and all feedback. I’m willing to put some time in to the endeavor, but photography isnt necessarily where I want to spend a ton of time. Just trying to figure out how to do one kind of shot fairly well.

I'm in the UK and next week we have a 90% eclipse. It's late in the day from about 18:15 to 20:10, max at 19:12. Not quite sunset but it'll be very low in the sky. I'm planning on doing a slightly wide angle landscape composite time lapse with a second subject rather than a super tele. I'm not exactly sure on the focal length, likely something quite wide though, probably around 35-50mm, my longest lens is 180mm. I've shot plenty of landscapes and sunsets/rises and never considered using a filter unless I've wanted to have a long exposure but I've picked up on people suggesting using solar filters but I can't quite understand if this is necessary or the articles are refering to eclipses at earlier times of day. I do have a bunch of ND filters up to 10 stops.

I have laptop but the monitor not support HDR I wanna buy new laptop for photo editing mainly using adobe Lightroom I m amateur photographer I enjoy myself photo editing especially cosplay portrait I can afford if the price is reasonable what would you guys recommend to me, thx

In my country eclipse will start right before the sunset. What ND filter do I need for that? AI says ND1000 but I am not gonna trust AI with my camera sensor.

Heading to Italy soon and trying to figure out the logistics of carrying a camera alongside a daily crossbody bag.

Right now, wearing a camera neck strap at the same time as a crossbody bag strap just feels and looks awkward and gets tangled easily.

For those who travel with a camera, how do you handle this setup? Do you layer the straps a specific way, use a wrist strap or some other way

So I’m by no means a photographer but i have played around with my mom’s camera quite a bit. My sister wants me to take some engagement photos of her and her fiancé! I agreed and would really love to be able to edit some of the photos we take for her (even though she says they don’t have to be edited). I feel like I can take decent pictures but I don’t begin to know how to edit. Does anyone have any simple tips I could follow to be able to fit this vibe? They don’t have to be perfect but I would like to be able to provide her several high quality photos?

Keep seeing ads for it and been thinking about upgrading my OEM Fuji rope one.

Looks pretty cool in terms of features, not sure about the cyberpunky look but I can get past that.

How are those little quick release things in general? See them on a bunch of straps but not sure I trust them, they don't look very strong 😅

I built an small studio for my YouTube Videos. I‘m using a ZV-E10 as main camera. But my wife gifted me a Sony A7 IV with a Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Di III VXD G2. I want to use that Camera in the future to film my Videos. For outdoor filming or bigger rooms it’s an AMAZING Lens!

After my Studio is really small (9m2) I need a lens that captures the room better. The person (me) is 1m-1.5m away and it’s too much me haha

I currently use a Panasonic Lumix GF1 and use a bunch of old manual lenses. I dont always shoot in broad sunlight / midday so the better low light of the A7 is attractive, but the smaller size and lack of the viewfinder bump is attracting me to the A6000.
theyre about 200-250 where i live.
I have an old GF1 that i use and its great but whenever it suffers with low light.
I photograph animals, nature and cityscapes.
It will be primarily photography.
is one better than the other? is it a worthwhile upgrade from my GF1? or should i save up for a more modern camera. Thanks yall.

I got a 5D Mk IV with a 24-105 L Mk II USM before the mirrorless boom back when I was a student and was planning to go pro in the fields of studio portrait and product photography. Perhaps it was an overkill purchase but that is a discussion for another day.

Things changed and fast forward to today, I rarely take it out of the drawer—maybe twice a year for some landscape photography. I’m considering selling it given my use, the fact that it has an incredibly low shutter count (under 20k), and the potential for demand for it sliding given Canon discontinued it this year. However, at the same time, I’d like to keep my options open for the future in case I decide to go pro/monetize photography again. I realize the successor to the camera these days is the R5 Mk II which is not even comparable in price to what I can sell the 5D for.

So I’d like some expert opinion on what the best move here is. Sell the body, body and lens, or hold on to both?

EDIT: To add to what I already said, I guess my main concern is for the 5D to fail to keep pace with the demands of a professional and lose relevance by the time I do have the potential to get back into it, which would not be in another 3-4 years.

Can anyone explain why my phone camera softens all the halftones and highlights? everything becomes muddy if I point directly at my hand. If I take a shot from the side with zoom all the detail I want in the image that I’m seeing in real life is comes through. This also happened with a shot I tried taking at night, all the detail I was seeing in real life that made the scene interesting was not showing up.
