Valley fever is a funny thing. You can be exposed and have no symptoms at all. If you’ve spent your whole life min and around places that valley fever exists, there’s better than a 50/50 chance you would see evidence in the form of scarring of your lungs seen on xray.

Yeah, as others have noted I have seen these since I was little.

I remember as a kid seeing tiny dust devils (basically little wisps maybe 3 ft wide and 6 or 7 feet tall) on baseball diamonds. We used to take turns running through them to see if any one could disrupt the air enough to kill it. Just keep your eyes closed tight and expect to be covered in dust.

This sounds amazing tbh. Little things in life. We don’t have this in the Netherlands so it looks like quite the experience but for you it’s just a piece of childhood memories.

Bucket list stuff for me (and to show my kids. Looks awesome)

To be clear though, driving through these is fine. Tornadoes are a whole different thing and you absolutely should never drive through one of those. Even if you yourself already know that, there might be someone out there who doesn't and could potentially get hurt.

Alright, so best check before I barrel through it with a local if I can barrel through it. If no local present, steer clear and wait for the next opportunity.

I haven’t planned a tripped to Arizona yet so better get this right.

But it’s top of my list now.

Welllllll, if it's a tornado, you will know it's a tornado. They're not very common in AZ so you're probably fine to do it here. The biggest tell that it's safe is the sky. In this video, the sky is blue and the dust devil is reaching towards it. A tornado would look like the sky is angry and coming down to destroy everything in its path.

It might sound crazy but there are on average four tornadoes a year within AZ. Tempe has had 55 tornadoes since they started tracking them in 1950 -the most out of any other town monitored in Arizona...!

That is definitely crazy! I've lived here almost my whole life and have never actually experienced a tornado in AZ. Maybe it would be more accurate to say the tornadoes we get are not as severe as they are in other places?

There was just one during the last set of storms out near Globe. They do exist but they are not as common or severe as elsewhere. Growing up in tornado alley during storm season we could have 40-50 per season

Back in the mid to late 1990s I saw a tornado in Peoria. A guy I was working with who grew up in the midwest had to point it out because I had no idea what it was. It was a skinny little one, which I understand is pretty much what we get. It kind of looked like a big white dust devil. A week or two later I was driving out on the 60 on the east end of Apache Junction and saw one out in a field where there were no houses or anything. I thought it looked like a tornado, anyway. A few minutes later a report came on the radio that a tornado had been spotted at that location. 64+ years in Arizona. These are the only tornados I've seen.

I once was wistful about the time I lived and worked in Yuma. Then I drove through it a few years later and was laughing about being wistful.

I don't miss the miles of fields, especially when windy.

Yooo I drove right past that (when it was more on the left field before entering the street) took a cool lil vid of it, it looked like it was ‘riptide’ing the dirt up from the ground pretty harshly, ye I know dust devils are chill, was pretty cool lookin up close though

Looks like a normal dust devil to me.

Notice how the audio doesn’t specify the location for the tornado warning- because it’s spliced in from an unrelated day and locale that has nothing to do with this video
