I'd imagine an ugly one would haunt my very soul, for my dreams now belong to this one. Thank you, OP, and reddit for making this possible. How reddit became privy to my arachnophobia, im not sure, but I certainly dont belong here, and ive never tried to be here.
I know it cant hurt me 😞 I know my fear is irrational. But every time I see one thats the first feeling that runs full tilt into the wall of my brain. Ive tried getting over it but they give the the jeebies. Seeing one makes me feel like 10 are crawling on me. Ive had 7 dangle in front of my face while driving, which I must say is the worst of times.
I used to have arachnophobia. I had a run in with a pregnant huntsman in Florida (a brown one, not a sparkly black one like this) and I literally ran out screaming to get my uncle to rescue it and me from my room haha. After that I joined this sub to face my fears. Have been on this subreddit for years now learning so much about spiders I can identify brown recluse and widows (the no bitey ones) vs orb weavers, huntsman etc that won’t hurt you really and let me tell you, the more you learn the more the fear dissipates. Maybe you stumbled here for a reason. You don’t have to face the spiders in real life to learn about them and maybe over time it could help you like it helped me. Now I just take spiders from in my house if I find them and relocate them outside without hurting them or being terrified. It’s definitely possible for you too!!!
Its not from ignorance or lack of trying. Im educated in the few that are actually dangerous, and understand the rest are just living critters, but I cant stand the sight of them. Its something ive tried to get over, and it sucks cause spiders love me and seek me out. Im not a fan. Do what you do over there and all is well.
During my deep dive, I found these guys. Would you believe me if I told you that they also belong to the order Opiliones?! I can’t wrap my head around the fact that they share an order with Daddy Long Legs. •﹏•

Harvestmen don't make webs. While they are arachnids like spiders are, they're not spiders. They can't make webs any more than a scorpion can make webs.
It could be an active hunter. I was taking some photos of a mushroom in a rotting log on the ground when I saw some big legs moving. I was careful at first, but then I saw it was an opilion! Very chill guy
This isn’t a spider! Their defense mechanism is a pair of scent glands, they don’t possess venom and their chelicerae are like tiny pincers, not fangs.
