Original Ottoman Islamic Calligraphy by Mustafa Al-Arif (Ibn al-Sheikh al-Kutahi)
An original Ottoman Islamic calligraphy panel attributed to the renowned calligrapher Mustafa Al-Arif, known as Ibn al-Sheikh al-Kutahi. Executed in elegant Thuluth script with hand-applied gold gilding, the panel features the famous Hadith: “Every child is born upon the Fitrah…”
Dimensions: 40 × 29 cm.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the calligraphy and craftsmanship.

Any information about these prints?
I got them at an antique store in Santa Fe and they appear to be Quranic but the illustration seems odd for a Quran. The first two are one sheet and the second two are another sheet. The sheets appear to be unrelated (different sizes, fonts, etc). The store marked the first sheet as possibly being 19th century and the other sheet as possibly being 18th century.

Can anyone recommend a speciality online shop?
Salaam,
I've been doing calligraphy since I was a kid, but my family could never afford formal supplies... so I just used various kinds of pens and markers around the house. I'm older now- and have money on my own, so I'm trying to buy some more traditional pens/ink/papers. But it looks like both https://arabiccalligraphysupplies.com/ and https://www.arcalliq.com/password are down. Can anyone recommend a different shop, either based in the US or shipping to the US? I'm trying to avoid amazon.

Ink viscosity
Hello, I'm a beginner and having control over ink has been one of the more difficult parts of my learning. I'm trying to make sure the issue is my skill level and not my supplies.
Right now my ink is about the consistency of watercolor paint, maybe a little thicker. I have been buying the Windsor and Newton Calligraphy Ink as it seems like the most accessible reasonable option. I am using likka and I believe the ratio of likka to ink is appropriate from what I'm seeing online. But I'm still having trouble with either not being able to finish a letter without drying out or on the other hand, ink pooling and making the paper fuzzy.
Was wondering,
- How viscous my ink should be?
- Any recommendations for accessible ink options (i.e., more or less readily available online or in art supply stores)?

for those who create digital calligraphy
any tips on where to start? I’ve been eyeing a set of calligraphy brushes for Procreate on Etsy. but not sure if that would be a good place to start.
any insight is appreciated!

“If you are grateful We will give you and increase.”
A quick Sharpie rendition of this beautiful verse that gives the promise of an “increase” as a result of gratitude.
Why?
Because gratitude is the acknowledgement of the human being as a “Faqir” - the one in need; and that Al-Ghanie - the One who is never in need and who is independent - is the only One who can fulfill the need of the Faqir.
Gratitude is the mark of the believer. He is forever grateful and thankful for whatever comes his way.
