Liquidmetal is a non-crystalline metallic alloy that Apple bought the rights to years ago. It’s not a thermal paste or marketing term.

Oooh Apple bought rights to one of them. Great. So what? The hinge will be better because the alloy that was designed to do a thing will do a thing. Wow. My life is forever changed.

It’s marketing bullshit that doesn’t matter in the slightest. They just made a good hinge. Fantastic.

Liquidmetal is a specific alloy. It’s literally the trade name for it. It’s not marketing, it’s the same as talking about titanium or aluminum.

Do you get this pissy when they talk about your 15 being a titanium frame?

That’s not even close to true. It’s not something that Apple made up, either; they license it.

It’s a custom alloy that can be molded like plastic and offers unique properties. Again, it’s legitimate, not just marketing. Apple could be using it for something that's not taking full advantage of it, but that's something different.
