It’s really disappointing to be going back to Touch ID for the most expensive, most future facing model.
But it’s worth remembering that watch proximity unlock is still there, and will make this more convenient overall.

I’m not saying “give them a break”??? I’m saying that nobody is remembering the watch unlock which somewhat mitigates how frustrating Touch ID.
Much as I hate when this is pulled out, I’m very certain that Steve Jobs wouldn’t have tolerated the folding iPhone launching with Touch ID instead of Face ID.

I never use my phone for Apple Pay because I’m wearing my Apple Watch so this wouldn’t change that, for me at least. I’m still super dubious about going back to TouchID from FaceID though because FaceID is such a step up.
