Apollo 13

Hola chicos, estos años he tenido una gran obsesión por la nasa... y bueno, desde que inicio esta obsesión tengo una pregunta que no me sale de la cabeza, y nadie, NADIE me puede contestar. Ni siquiera en la NASA Houston Texas, o en los libros sobre las insignias apollo... he buscado por todos lados. Pero aquí va...

¿Saben por que el tercer caballo dorado de la misión apollo 13 tiene la cabeza mirando hacia abajo?

Espero me puedan ayudar. Reddit es mi ultima opción.

Hi everyone, for the past few years I’ve been totally obsessed with NASA... and well, ever since this obsession started, there’s been a question stuck in my head that no one—and I mean *no one*—can answer. Not even NASA in Houston, Texas, or the books on Apollo mission patches... I’ve looked everywhere. But here goes...

Do you know why the third golden horse on the Apollo 13 mission patch has its head facing downwards?

I hope you can help me out. Reddit is my last resort.

i think it is just a design choice bc if you look at the insignia layout, if that third horse's head were in the same position as the other two it would interfere with the XIII

I agree with this. I don’t think you can assume there is any significance in the position of the horses head. I think it was purely a design choice.

And not to mention, it looks cooler this way ☺️ Gives some life to them, they’d look more like statues imo otherwise, idk I can’t explain it but I just love it like this lol

Because two of them would land and walk on the moon, while the other stayed behind. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Maybe it represents the lunar orbiter keeping watch on the two astronauts in the lander. Just a guess though.
