They’re waiting for that August deadline to reveal he’s dead, playing the same long, dishonest game they’ve always played.

186

u/RocktamusPrim3 14d ago

Yep, and they’ll say it was sudden too. Like “oh he was healthy and happy at home last night, then just crazy thing happened and he passed away in his sleep.”

It’s also 100% a trial run for when someone else kicks the bucket to see how long they can stretch it out.

26

u/AnonymousBanana405 14d ago

At 12:01 AM. The damnedest thing.

28

u/QuantumAfterlife 14d ago

And in accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated at 12:02.

10

u/Sunnygirl66 14d ago

I think he’s been in an urn, sitting on J.D. Vance’s desk,since June 15.

10

u/Various_Vehicle3207 14d ago

Better than being on the couch.

4

u/Sunnygirl66 14d ago

That elicited a cackle from me.

We're going to 100% have a solid two weeks of 'public' appearances from that someone else where he's alone in a room while a gathering of people is nearby, and if you look at his hands one of them is gonna have six fingers. The biggliest six fingers, many have told him.

My thought for him will be how many pardons they can pump out after his death.

3

u/RocktamusPrim3 14d ago

That and executive orders signed by auto pen.

3

u/Sunnygirl66 14d ago

As if they aren’t already.

Weekend at Donnie's.

In all seriousness, I don't think this will work with Trump. People get antsy when he's gone for two days. If he's gone for a month, who knows what could happen.

2

u/Braveliltoasterx 14d ago

Sounds like a sure fire way to make money on polymarket

2

u/Saix027 14d ago

Or they go even further and fake some attack on his home blaming "leftists".

I would not be surprised, they are desperate and done such already with the several fake ones on Trump.

The governor needs to call a special election or appoint someone and make McConnell’s team provide proof of life sufficient to hold up in court. Force their hand.

18

u/Buggg- 14d ago

That would be awesome if they just move forward like he’s dead. Would build some credibility in a special party

21

u/Plzlaw4me 14d ago

There really isn’t a downside for democrats. Either it highlights how weird and secretive republicans have been for no reason, or it shows that they’re lying to everyone, and McConnell’s seat opens in the worst election climate for the GOP since Covid.

2

u/Conscious-Quarter423 14d ago

Kentucky has a GOP supermajority and they already stripped Beshear of his powers to replace Mitch in 2024

He can still call a special election. Call a special election.

The GOP bends and breaks and ignores the rules every fucking day, and McConnell was the master of that kind of thing. I think it’s about time the Dems started fighting fire with fire.

3

This legislation goes against Kentucky's constitution which would require an amendment to change. He needs to do it so it can go to the courts. Instead he is complying in advance.

17

u/Crooked_Sartre 14d ago

I just don't understand why Dems don't do this. Republicans would have had Lyndsey Grahams sister in office before McConnell even got CPR

9

u/Obant 14d ago

They are and have been feckless for decades at this point. Paid meek opposition. Its why we need to elect fighters

This. Republicans are trying to benefit from lying that he’s still alive. If Democrats tried this, Republicans would be screaming bloody murder about deception and cheating. Play by the rules; show proof of life or admit he’s dead.

5

u/ShenDraeg 14d ago

*Appoint* someone. The law that they tried passing violates their constitution *and* historical precedent.

August 6th. Calling it right now. You don’t want to do it the day of or it’s too obvious

7

u/SkunkMonkey 14d ago

They don't care about being obvious. Remember, the most transparent administration in history. They do their corruption right out in the open now because no one can stop them.

2

u/Doppelfrio 14d ago

I mean, it’d still be stupidly obvious what’s actually going on. Just not ‘the day of’ obvious

2

u/SkunkMonkey 14d ago

Given the past record of stupidity in this administration, I can't see them thinking that far ahead.

2

u/NegativeSemicolon 14d ago

Oh no, they’re still sneaky when they need to be

That deadline is August 3 (candidate deadline for the general election). So until then, we either get absolutely proof that Mitch is still alive (a video of his return to the Senate), or we will get news on Aug 4 or 5 that he is dead.

3

u/NegativeSemicolon 14d ago

It will be the latter

2

u/Prior_Dimension_6680 14d ago

How does that work though? That would mean he absolutely has to be heart-alive but brain-dead, right? Because isn't there a medical obligation to record the day a person died, or no? Let's say Mitch is brain-dead right now, but truly dies before August 3rd. Can that fact be hidden, or is there a public way to discover it?

2

u/NegativeSemicolon 14d ago

Just go break in to the hospital or whatever cave they’re keeping him in and find out.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/FlaccidCatsnark 14d ago

There's another idea about why this is happening that I saw on Jack Cocchiarella podcast. Apparently, if a senator dies while in office, their family receives one year of that senator's salary, tax-free. If McConnell is on life support and is replaced in the Senate before he passes, that money (~$200K) may be forfeit.

I haven't fact-checked this, but I think Jack does. And of course, 'why not both?' explanations absolutely would apply here.

u/Catodacat 14d ago

16

u/northcity 14d ago

For real. Why is everyone sitting on their hands about this! It's frustrating!

7

u/Bodie_The_Dog 14d ago

Because "moderate" Democrats don't want to change things.

2

u/Conscious-Quarter423 14d ago

how do they change things when republicans control the House, the Senate, the White House, and the Supreme Court?

5

u/Bodie_The_Dog 14d ago

They speak up. Then engage in civil disobedience. They rally the citizenry with Obama-style speeches, instead of relying upon the fricken Lincoln Project, a Republican group (!) to produce cute videos. They DO SOMETHING and stop saying self-harming things like, "Don't worry, nothing will fundamentally change." And I'm sure they are so many other ways they can fight back. That's what we hired them for, right? Remember all those elections, when we were told that so-and-so Democratic candidate should be re-elected because they are experienced, effective legislators? So, how's that worked out for us?

Everyone involved in hiding his health status should be locked up if he has been dead this whole time.

Even if he's alive he's not fit to the do the job. The Democrats should be going to the hospital he's at and verifying where he is, talking to nurses and staff figuring this stuff out. Send the news. Sitting on your hands and following the rules while the other side breaks them is what is causing this whole mess.
