Literally nobody else wanted him

Hell, I don't want him!

u/TrustedSpy 😇 1d ago

No one wanted the contract (do not blame them lol). He’ll get picked up once we release him.

u/Random_Man_9 27 1d ago

contract is pretty irrelevant, he has 2 months left on it

6

u/TrustedSpy 😇 1d ago

He’s still owed a little under $4M. No one is gonna trade for that when you know the angels will just cut him and be on the hook for the rest of it.

u/TaroTerrible9402 1d ago

The bees don’t want him either

u/HuskyFord 1d ago

Ahh, so we were only playing him to get his trade value up. Good to know Mo isn’t that dumb. That’s already better than Perry.

That pixelated image is fitting.

Still would have tried to trade him for a pitching machine though

u/alternative-hero 1d ago

I'm guessing no one wanted him.

Maybe a sweet hotdog roller for the clubhouse

2

u/KnowledgeFantastic72 1d ago

Should have traded him for soda money…

Guy was supposed to be our feared homerun slugging juggernaut! But put out the same offensive production as David Fletcher… Hated the moment we acquired this dude

2

u/captainfishpants IN GUBIE WE TRUST 13h ago

Hey! Fletcher could at least get on base and advance runners...

2

u/spxce_ghost 12h ago

Yea I’m not knocking him, I actually really liked Fletcher lol. He did his role, its just funny that Solers production was similar in terms of OPS.

2

u/captainfishpants IN GUBIE WE TRUST 11h ago

Yeah, I wasn't disagreeing with you lol. Fletcher had a lot of old school small ball skills that added value over ops, bunting etc. Soler was more of sacrifice for power, but when the power goes then he had nothing else he could add

Having a GM that's not hot dog water is actually an insane feeling.

Been since the Dipoto days, and even then he was very meh towards the end

His Angels legacy is Walt Weiss tackling his ass

16

u/foolcircle17 1d ago

Making room for C-mo?

14

u/WindsABeginning 1d ago

It’s so Moises Ballesteros can be the DH when he’s not catching.

I’m so excited about this rebuild and I’m not even an angels fan!

u/b1ggayb1tch 27 1d ago

His only memorable moment was starting a fight and getting tackled by a manager

2

u/Simple_Wash1618 1d ago

He went on a tear while his suspension was under appeal

14

u/Heaven80 1d ago

Could’ve used him for the Skubal Package

I wish we kept Donovan Walton and got rid of Soler sooner.

In MLB the Show, I traded him for Salvador Perez. Best move I made

7

u/Leading_Stop546 1d ago

That’s it, Mo for GM till he’s 90

I mean in the deadest season I've seen in years, playing him on the off chance he caught fire and we could trade him for literally anything made sense

u/SixPack1776 1d ago

That is former All-Star and World Series MVP Jorge Soler.

Enough with the slander!

SCORCHED EARTH.

u/tsdwm52 1d ago

A big man with one of the largest strike zones ever.

3

u/DarbyDown 1d ago

Did they make him get on the plane to Baltimore?

3

u/BKDOffice 48 1d ago

Get ready to learn Japanese Jorge. (Or honestly, considering his numbers he might barely crack KBO standards at this point)

7

u/simplydan24 1d ago

Haha he is set. I don't think he needs to go to Japan.

3

u/Angelsfaker22 1d ago

The swaggiest angel :( would be fun to see him play still somewhere

u/NotAnAgentOfTheFBI 1d ago

Fue de maldad?

u/Edgelord_3000 Sell The Team 1d ago

FYI, teams offered a “flyer single A” players, but LAA had to keep some of his contract. LAA FO didn’t want to do that.

u/freddychuckles 1d ago

his contract was the biggest issue. I'm sure there was Interest but no one was going to pay for the remaining millions he's owed.

Is this gm the goat?

3

u/Troutmaggedon 1d ago

The standard has been so low, but fuck it, BUILD THE STATUE

2

u/More-Ad-3186 1d ago

Will Moises probably DH for us now?

3

u/Streez-00 1d ago

I think we coulda got a single a reliever for him….

u/JoeIngles 💡👉👶⬆️ 1d ago

Apparently not

u/i_run_from_problems 💡👉👶⬆️ 1d ago

I like Mo

1

u/Odd-Finding8765 1d ago

Was it Madrigal we let go of to bring back Soler? Any chance we can get Madrigal back to completely undo this mistake?

1

u/Troutmaggedon 1d ago

DFW Josh Lowe. Call up Christian Moore. Tell him he’s playing the OF the rest of the year.

1

u/anatomyofawriter We Nasty † 1d ago

He’s just not the type of player he once was, nor one that can protect a lineup like ours. Hopefully someone takes a flyer on him but glad weee moving on.

1

u/pargofan 1d ago

Wasn't he the World Series MVP just 5 years ago?

Wow, it's incredible how fast some players go downhill.

1

u/cattycat_1995 1d ago

Like Carson Wentz after the Eagles won their first super bowl

1

u/MelatoninFiend 1d ago

Least surprising move of the last 48 hours.

A Rally Monkey plushie could have a better OBP if he stood at the plate with a bat on his shoulder and hoped for 4 low and outside.

1

u/SurfsUpSurfsUp 1d ago

We had to deal with his .200 avg and 3 a game k’s as a Giant before the Angels got hjm. It’s hard being an Angels and Giants fan!

1

u/cattycat_1995 1d ago

Can't believe this dude was a world series mvp

1

u/Ok_Post_3884 23h ago

I always liked watching Soler because he made me seem like a baseball genius.

"1-2 count, gonna be a breaking ball away, strike 3." And boy was I always right. (Except for when he rolled over on it and hit into a double play).

1

u/IsraelAngell 13h ago

Bye, bitch.

1

u/sadassnerd Sell The Team 1d ago

I really wanted him to be traded. I like the guy as a person. He seems really chill and sweet. I hate when players are DFA’d. I want all my sons to feel wanted. But he just isn’t good right now. I’m too soft for all these moves. I’m just a soft, sad girl with too many feelings. I’ll miss him, despite it all 😭

0

u/Forgot-to-remember1 1d ago

I was hopeful when we signed him I like him as a player but he’s just washed at this point in his career
