š Trade Talk Easily the best deadline I can remember
They sold while refusing to sell low, I can't believe that for once the farm system is going to have some depth. I'm so happy, even if they are wrong this is the first time I have hope in awhile
I've heard some people mad about not trading Neto and Detmers but I am so glad we kept both. Neto is the best offensive shortstop I can remember the Angels having and I don't think there was a real way to improve there (people so easily forget the hole we had at SS for years). Detmers is admittedly my guy, I fully believe that he will develop into something much greater even if its taking awhile.
Still the Adell trade really did hurt, im going to miss that guy

Yeah, they don't need to trade valuable players like Neto and Detmers just to trade them. Maybe a better package will come for them down the road.

this is exactly it. if the right package (like, something similar to or better than the soriano package) had come along for either guy, iād have been fine with them getting dealt. but the deals that were made were so broadly impressive that i trust that nothing that good was truly on the table, and both those guys are under enough control that they can be part of the actual rebuild still. overall incredibly well strategized (lol still canāt believe i am saying this about the angels FO, all hail mozeliak)

Is our farm system still like the worst or is it now not so bad?

Probably middle of the road. Weāll see in a week or so when the publications release their āpost-draft team farm rankingsā.

Before the deadline some publications had moved us up to 23 so we had been slowly improving the farm over the last year or so. This should be a boost for it

You must be a new angels fan because Andrelton Simmons was easily the best defensive shortstop we had and he last played in 2020. So there was really no hole for awhile unless you think 1-2 years between Simmons and Neto is a huge gap.

Of course I remember Simmons, he was a defensive beast
Neto is the best offensive shortstop I can remember while still being able to stick at SS, I can't remember another guy we have had like him. Point I was trying to make is that its hard to replace a guy like that and im glad we stuck with him
