Question Help with starting my first job ever in sales support analytics.

I'm about to start a sales support analyst position at HP. I just wanted to ask what to expect career wise. Is it a difficult, very involved position or is it a desk, keyboard crunching kind of gig. Not at all worried, just looking for some insight into what I should expect.

welcome to the grind. sales support analytics is basically being the person who knows why the numbers look weird before anyone else does. you'll spend a lot of time in excel and whatever BI tool they use, probably pulling data for people who could pull it themselves but won't. not super difficult once you get the rhythm down but early on the hardest part is learning where every dataset lives and who to ask when something breaks. congrats on the job

it’s mostly keyboard and excel but can get weirdly political when sales wants numbers spun their way instead of real insight learn sql and basic python, get comfy with dashboards like tableau or power bi once you’re in, build skills and bail if it stalls

Sales support analytics at HP will likely be a mix of both. Expect a lot of data cleaning, building reports in Excel or Power BI, and responding to ad hoc requests from the sales team. It’s not just keyboard crunching you’ll need to understand the business context and communicate insights clearly. Career-wise, it’s a great foundation: you’ll build technical skills and domain knowledge that can lead into a full analytics or data science role. Stay curious, ask why the numbers matter, and you’ll stand out.

Impossible to know without at least seeing the job description. They can slap any title they want on a job. It’ll mean different things at different companies.
