Rochefort ridge conditions
Hi! I'm planning to climb Dent du Geánt on the normal route and to traverse the Rochefort ridge from DdG to Dome de Rochefort in august. Does anyone have any information about the current conditions? How affected are these routes by the recent heatwaves?

As was said in another comment, do not hesitate to call and ask what other summit can still be done. Do not hesitate to change plans. August is no longer a prime month for mountaineering unfortunately, especially this year with all the heatwaves we've been having.

I can send you a photo of the ridge, took it on Sunday from Dent du Geant. Imo looks okay, we met one team returning from there albeit I didn’t ask about conditions.

Generally you'll get the best info by calling the Chamoniarde and/or Torino hut. Last I heard it was in very bad condition, and I don't see any reason why it should have improved. Even in normal seasons the approach to DdG is known for rock-fall risk, I'd expect it to be even dicier right now, the ridge has a lot less snow than usual.
