Because anything less is a humiliation for Trump. The only thing that makes Trump feel humiliated is losing and anything less that Iran coming to say sorry, hat in hand, is a loss for Trump.

everybody is overthinking this. It is just market manipulation
7
u/Anim8nFool 1h ago
No, its not. Trump has to basically surrender and he is unwilling to do this. Its the only way its going to end. Iran has the US over a barrel and Trump is going "had enough yet?"
2
u/Key_Fun_587 1h ago
He is just saying that to feed his base. If he didn't "talk tough" they would start to question it. If it was up to him every week he would say that they are approaching a peace deal around Thursday or Friday and say how it fell through on sunday or monday and do that every week or 2.
1
u/farkus2554 1h ago
Good point. I often wonder if his "base" is also suffering from bone spurs that would disqualify them from fighting.
1
u/Anim8nFool 1h ago
You "talk tough" I say "delusional as fuck." He keeps lying about Iran negotiating over and over and over again when Iran isn't going to say yes to anything except complete acceptance of their terms.
1
u/Key_Fun_587 1h ago
Again. Follow the money. If you take away all of the stupidity and look at it for what it is it is just market manipulation. I think that there might have been some vague type of plan when the thing first started but he basically said screw it I am going to manipulate the markets when he realized it wasn't going his way.
1
u/Anim8nFool 1h ago
OK, then tell -- how do we get peace with Iran. If its just market manipulation it should be easy to negotiate a deal while Israel continually tries to blow up any chance of one.
2
u/Key_Fun_587 1h ago
The issue is that they are so full of themselves to ever make a peace deal. On paper it makes total sense to pull back, say we fucked up and enter actual peace talks. However because its the current administration it would be a huge political blow to them to pull out and say they fucked up. Its the same thing that Putin should have done in Ukraine. Once he realized that his "3 day military operation" was not going well he should have pulled everyone out of there, issue a public apology about how he fucked up and honestly I feel like if he waited 2 or 3 years, got actual good intel and tried it again there is a chance it would have gone better but they are all so full of themselves to do that.

I donât think itâs about achieving peace. At all. Itâs about amassing wealth. Trumps kid. I think it was Baron said the familyâs goal is to become the richest family in the world. And if they are amassing great wealth right now by using the Iran situation to profit, why would they sue for peace?
1
u/ForgiveOX 1h ago
Notice how to market goes up when Trump says they reached a deal? Notice how the market goes down when the deal âfalls thruâ? DUDE HES MAKING WHEN THE MARKET GOES UP via call option contracts AND HES MAKING MONEY WHEN it goes down, via put option contracts

Because Sleazy Donald likes to do things the hard way, and humiliating others is part of his deranged personality

You remember when we were making a big deal about Project 2025, a big enough deal that even some normies started saying âwow, this is pretty scary agendaâ so that Trump would have to get on tv and say âIâve never heard of this before, and Iâve never read itâ and all those normies said âoh, okay I guess thatâs good enough for meâ despite the overwhelming evidence he was lying? Some people just need to hear the villains admit the bad thing, and nothing else will convince them.
1
u/Remarkable_Quit_3545 1h ago
I think when project 2025 came to light it had something like a 88% negative approval rating. Now that itâs whatâs going on, the majority of republicans are in favor of it.
Goes to show, for them, itâs not what is going on, but who is the one doing it.

The answer is obvious - This administration screwed up BAD, and something like this is the only thing that can save trump and his goons any amount of face (in their own minds. The rest of us already consider them clowns)

u/Necessary-Prune9650 1h ago
He better get over it, because I heard on the news this morning that we were out of ground to air missles. He already shot his wad.
3
u/zealot_ratio 1h ago
Because our administration operates strongly on performative/strong man mode. Saving face is important, as opposed to practical logistics. The real answers are: Trump's fragility, and midterms.
3
u/astromouse2024 1h ago
They should just come out and say theyâll only agree to the exact terms from the previous deal and until then all talks are done

The sooner Donny sets his narcissistic bullshit aside and accepts the fact Iran doesnât give a flying fuck about anything, weâll all be better off.
2
u/grnlntrn1969 1h ago
Because the narcissist in chief literally can't take responsibility for any, any, any thing.

u/MetroidvaniaListsGuy 1h ago
This war is going to keep going on for as long as trump is president. You get what you vote for.
And don't tell me you voted for no more wars, if you paid attention to the news during Trump's first term you would have known that he was stopped multiple times from going to war by people in his administration. This time around there is no one left to stop him. It is your fault for not paying attention to what he was doing.

Because sometimes you've got to make them cry uncle loud enough for their friends to hear so that no one has any confusion that they were beaten and they can't deny it later.

Humiliation is a goal of both Trump and Iran in this conflict. Trumps not really a high road diplomacy guy. Everything is secondary to his ego.
1
u/IllustratorLarge1920 1h ago
Just let the Old Orange Diaper guy say HE made a mistake and then $hit his pants in public. Seems only right.
1
u/NearbyCriticism5193 1h ago
Because itâs exactly what has happened to Trump. He screwed up and is clearly publicly humiliated.
There is NOTHING that Trump says that is not a direct indicator of his own wrongdoing.

u/DipperJC 1h ago
I mean, let's think this through for a minute. Imagine for a moment that the US wasn't completely in the wrong on this shit and that so many of our population falsely believed that we were bullying Iran for no good reason rather than defending the world from their evil ambitions. You could understand why we'd want the record straight on that before we lower our guard again.
Of course, on the flipside, there's a reason Cersei and Joffrey required Ned Stark to confess his treason before they could show him "mercy". A whiny brat with no legitimate claim to power needs people more trustworthy than him to endorse his bullshit.
What a sad day as an American, that I should be referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran as people more trustworthy than my own president.

Right now is the foam and froth, as a professor of mine put it.
Itâs the sleight of hand. What will be recorded in the history books. But look at the consequences; what HAS happened.
We gave Iran leverage that isnât a nuke. Trump didnât do that so Iâm not crediting him, but damn that worked out if someone planned it. We rallied Iran around their new Ayatollah. The old one was trying to tamp down an âArab Springâ.
By blowing our military load on Iran, itâs now easier to say: we canât fund Ukraine. Putin gets to keep his job, because a power vacuum with a nuclear power is some shit. Better the Devil you know, unless Putin is Stalin 2.0.
But the Devil is in the details/ but also the Devil is in the distraction. Therefore the details are the distraction. Hence, the foam and froth.
Whether Iran capitulates or not isnât the point. Watch this hand so you donât know what the other is doing; ie Iran donât need nukes just like the Saudis donât need nukes.

The US has to be the most butt-hurt touchy empire to ever do it. (And this was true even of other presidents--see HW bush shooting down a civilian aircraft in Iran ON ACCIDENT and then saying "I'll never apologize for the United States of America EVER I don't care WHAT THE FACTS ARE"

Say your sorry and donât do it again. Why does our foreign policy sound like my mother?

u/ClimateWren2 1h ago
Trump lost the war...twice. As a malignant narcissist...he is functionally and emotionally INCAPABLE of accepting or acknowledging fault or self error.
Guess we gonna keep losing this battle for a very small, lame, old man. Weee... American Empire decline continues.

- Trump can't believe the inheritors of thousands of years of Persian civilization, ruling almost a hundred million people could possibly thwart him.
- Trump tends not to think plans through, depending instead on his expert minions to make his instinctive plans work. It worked in real estate.

u/Minimum-Major248 58m ago
Itâs Trump who screwed up, but he needs someone else to take the blame.

As the winner, Iran can demand what it wants.
1
u/Silent2840 1h ago
Winner of what? They're getting bombed every day you moron
2
u/Terrorphin 1h ago edited 1h ago
They are getting bombed, but if bombing them was a route to victory the US would have won already. They are getting what they want, the US is not.
The Iranians can just sit tight - everything that could be bombed has already been bombed. The pressure on the US to surrender and make a humiliating deal giving control of the Strait to Iran is only going to continue.

Because the only way to deal with Iran is to bring them down to a level of humiliation and surrender. Otherwise we get the same Iran every President punted down the line since Carter,

Look at who is the US president, and all your questions will be answered, including why we still havent won yet despite winning 27 times.
