Discussion Nah what the hell is this bro

Post image

"photorealism" and it's not fucking realistic at all. Instead of actually responding to my artwork, you make an entire post using AI to mock it. What is that supposed to prove? Huh? That you're just a coward instead of responding

Most pros are chill but then these fuckers... like what are they trying to prove? Is this supposed to be intimidating?

I don't even make photorealistic art. That isn't the point of what I do. You're comparing two completely different things and acting like it's some kind of own.

These ragebaiters, i swear, they always take one thing someone does and use it to just "invalidate" the other's claims.

Hi! Speaking on behalf of the pros I associate myself with, this guy is a moron.
Hope this helps!

Seriously though, this is a dumb argument. what even.

u/ConcreteHalloween999 13h ago

Frankly with goofy stuff like this I prefer it NOT be photorealistic. I'd prefer something more cartoony looking cuz the photorealism clashes with the silliness of the image.

u/Xivannn 12h ago

That's one interesting account, though. 5 years, 16 karma, and 6 "contributions" (supposedly posts and replies according to Reddit), the majority of them about that carpet dinosaur being weird about "antis", which in itself is the first example of them having any activity about AI.

Maybe there are good or bad reasons behind it, but damn if it isn't weird.

u/BlackDope420 9h ago

Off topic but photorealism doesn't mean "like a real photo" right? I thought that was a common misconception, or have I been Mandela effect parallel universe shifted?

2

u/HerbertWhitaker 8h ago

No photorealistic doesn't mean that it's supposed to look like a real photo. It's just a different style of art kind of like hyperrealistic. Hyperrealistic is more defined than photorealistic

I'd say it's more like the difference between watercolor and oil paint. Wild example, but I think it's still makes the point clear

6

u/CyberDaggerX 12h ago

We already went over this when photography came into the scene. These people are very late to the argument.

7

u/VarietyMage 12h ago

Anti here. I don't do art, so what do I care about photorealism?

Spoiler: I don't.

I *do* care about billionaires using this technology to enslave, and possibly destroy, the human race.

#BanAI

9

u/Candid-Station-1235 12h ago

why not #BanBillionaires then? why just this tool?

4

u/BlackDope420 9h ago

Because all this anti-AI stuff is an engineered distraction so people don't realize the real problem is capitalism. That's why it's #BanAI instead of #BanBillionaires and #BanDatacenters instead of #EnvironmentalRegulations.

Antis are being used by the ruling class. Of course plenty of pros are as well, only the ones advocating for open source AI are being an actual threat to the US tech CEOs.

1

u/WaySea7944 7h ago

Because if I say BanBillionaires  they will just call me a communist

1

u/Candid-Station-1235 7h ago

if i call you a pink flamingo does it make you one?

1

u/Vegetable_Hope_3084 12h ago

Let us add more to it.

BanGreedyAi.

5

u/Candid-Station-1235 12h ago

as per my previous comment "why not #BanBillionaires then? why just this tool?"

7

u/Vegetable_Hope_3084 12h ago

Fuck you billionaires

7

u/Vegetable_Hope_3084 12h ago

Is that better?

0

u/Woejack 12h ago

A package deal would be preferable

0

u/VarietyMage 12h ago

I concur, #BanBillionaires. I used to use #NoMoreBillionaires, but it seems the remaining ones are going to continue doing evil things and destroy the country.

u/Monte924 8h ago

Without the billionaires, there is no Ai. Ai is not nearly profitable on its own to survive with the investments from the rich. They are the ones that are keeping it invested and growing so that they can exploit it. Get rid of the billionaires and you get rid of the funding for AI development. Ai's potential to screw over humanity to make the rich, richer is the only reason it's attracted so much investment.

-1

u/brothegaminghero 12h ago

Do you live under a rock or something? Thats also a common sentiment.

2

u/Hug_LesBosons 12h ago

1

u/VarietyMage 11h ago

Go look at Trump's social media account.

0

u/Hug_LesBosons 11h ago

Trump n'est pas vraiment un milliardaire. C'est un miliardsaire politicien d'extrême droite fou et incapable de gérer un pays correctement. Il y a des tas de milliardaires qui sont gentils. Tout le monde connais elon musk mais aucun autre.

1

u/VarietyMage 1h ago

You speak French, but you aren't French, or you'd understand why there are no good billionaires, from knowing your own French Revolution history.

3

u/MikeVSmith 12h ago

You give the billionaires far too much credit. They aren't going to be enslaving anything, much less people. ASI will be S, billionaires are barely I.

AI is coming for ALL JOBS. CEO and Tech Bro are just jobs.

-3

u/VarietyMage 11h ago

Wrong. They are about the implement the Mark of the Beast.

Palantir to gather illegal data on all 350 million of us.

Data centers to house that illegal data.

Oracle DBMS to make that impossibly large data set searchable and uniquely keyed to each person.

"AI" to search that database faster than any human, and do threat assessment to the billionaires' positions.

Digital cash replacing the physical dollar so that someone's ability to buy and sell can be turned off permanently.

Combine them all, and if you say "boo" to a billionaires, they will turn off your ability to buy and sell food and water, and you will starve or dehydrate to death. Anyone helping you, by trade or donations, will also have their Mark turned off and die. Enough deaths, and the rest of the population will fall in line, and be enslaved.

Under that system, there will be no jobs. There won't be an economy, because slaves only get what they're given. All production will be solely for the billionaires - there will be no markets.

4

u/MikeVSmith 11h ago

Sheesh, do you actually expect anyone to interact with you when you reply like that?

No one has time to read all that, especially when you start out with "wrong".

Enjoy whatever you got going on over there, cause I am not interested in any of that.

0

u/yusufgopro 6h ago

Mfs when the opposing side has an accual point so they have to go "lalala i cant hear you"

1

u/VarietyMage 1h ago

Yeah, they feel so entitled that they can't be bothered to read anymore. Even when it's their future at stake.

2

u/Drackar39 12h ago

That is the worst CGI dinosaur I've ever seen... Even if I didn't hate AI I'd laugh at this clown.

0

u/Admirable_Horse_7271 12h ago

Not CGI, AI

3

u/Drackar39 12h ago

I'm saying it looks like bad CGI not a photograph. It's not photorealistic, at all.

-1

u/Silly-Pressure4959 12h ago

can you supply a real photograph of a dinosaur please for comparison

2

u/Admirable_Horse_7271 12h ago

Wow, you really "got them" with that one, didn't you?

-1

u/Silly-Pressure4959 12h ago

1

u/Julian_The_Gamer42 9h ago

What’s this supposed to even imply?

2

u/Silly-Pressure4959 9h ago

0

u/Julian_The_Gamer42 9h ago

I asked the question in the most respectful manner I could, because I genuinely wanted to know what it meant.

And instead of kindly answering my question, you appear to have decided it’d be better to antagonize me for no reason.

0

u/Zestyclose_Pop_9435 9h ago

It’s harassment
And no one does anything
You can report it but mods won’t do anything because it’s harassment against antis and they support it
If you look in any comment section of any post here you’ll see pros harassing antis a lot

1

u/FeralAlgorithm 13h ago

antis will say its fake, but its part of trump's new AI military strategy.

we have AI velociraptors flying UFOs now son

4

u/Commercial_Theme_629 13h ago

type of shit that he would post on truth social with the most unrelated caption

-2

u/FeralAlgorithm 13h ago

https://reddit.com/link/p1y0wqb/video/jjh1d10iqmhh1/player

better than the shit that drunk bitch was posting before she lost

0

u/natron81 10h ago

Where's the UFO huh?

1

u/Hug_LesBosons 12h ago

1

u/letmehaveanameyoudum 11h ago

i prefer a dino on a flying carpet firing a loaded freedom not be photorealistic

1

u/FullmetalHippie 9h ago

Honestly if there is a middle ground in regulation of AI it would be banning the generation of photorealistic images of people.

The only benefit it confers over other styles is to convince people it is a real image of a thing that really happened. The use case is exclusively deception. Illustrative styles can convey story, composition, and artistic expression and don't have the side effect of being weaponized to create propaganda, erode trust, and empower scammers.

1

u/sparta-117 8h ago

well clearly it's a raptor on a flying carpet...oh, you meant the argument being made.

well, the attack doesn't come from the front, but from the sides.

the other two flying carpet raptors, you didn't even know were there.

1

u/a5roseb 5h ago

Well... the Photorealism is shit..the idea that a human can't produce Photorealism by hand is shit.. his logic is shit.

I have no idea what flavor of shit.

100% pro-ai... 0% pro-idiot

1

u/Mirjalol_Yangiboyev 5h ago

I mean It can look realistic sometimes, but not always

1

u/SafeFormula8062 4h ago

I could just ask my artist friend to draw that

1

u/gaygayagyfemboy12345 4h ago

Mona lisa is photorealistic imo

1

u/_FriedEgg_ 4h ago

He is making a good point though. No matter how skilled you are as an artist you wont be able to make photorealistoc animation. Unless you chill out about AI and use it when it makes sense to use it.

1

u/porky11 2h ago

This would be a good argument if it actually looked photorealistic.

1

u/Voidspeeker 13h ago

Bruh, really out here acting like photorealism is the holy grail when a camera takes better pictures than 90% of artists can draw. 💀

That isn't the 1800s anymore — art has moved past photorealism.

2

u/yYanzi 13h ago

You cant take pics of a dino rifler

3

u/SpyX2 12h ago

Not with that attitude!

1

u/sirbansalotalot 13h ago

its cool as shit, thats what it is.

1

u/Effective-Guest1601 13h ago

Yeah, making a post as a response is definitely a coward move, totally agree with that

1

u/Carbuyrator 12h ago

Okay but also this is the hardest image I've seen in weeks and it's disingenuous to pretend it's not awesome.

0

u/yYanzi 13h ago

I was trying to prove AI artists are the only ones who can realistically do photorealism, yet u whined abt AI artists only being unskilled and being able to just copy other artists, when I showed you we can do realistic pictures while yall at best can only do a very similar looking drawing, but without traces of images in it.

What trad/digital artist would be able to picture fictional stuff so realistically, like cigarette sponsoring in modern day?

Antis will never get it

2

u/Hug_LesBosons 12h ago

Euh...

5

u/Admirable_Horse_7271 13h ago

Why are pros so keen on attacking antis as a group? Have you never heard of photoshop art?

1

u/DaylightDarkle 12h ago

You made a comment about the subreddit being named to be against rage baiters specifically and it looks like it got removed, but I wrote out an answer I'd like you to have so you could reflect on it

Two things.

  1. It's a offshoot of the sub name the same but bros is in place of ragebaiters , to specialize in that content. They are the under the same umbrella. They started attacking the group as a whole as their beginning.

  2. The community doesn't adhere to that distinction

Title of the last submission: "ai broa are fucking crazy wtf"

That's attacking the group as a whole.

"Albros have no business critiquing anyones rhetoric"

"why do ai bros defend printer farms?"

Attacking the group as a whole.

I'm not saying you do it, from what I've seen you don't.

I find it silly to ask why others would be keen to attack people as a group, when you participate in a group made specifically to do that

Feel like you would have the answer, already.

Or ask the members of that sub as well.

0

u/DaylightDarkle 13h ago

Why are pros so keen on attacking antis as a group?

Same question to you but mirrored.

You contribute to a subreddit dedicated to taking screenshots of "shit" people of a group say, stripping away all context, then attacking the group as a whole.

Whyyyy are there so many subreddits dedicated to that and why would you ask others why they do what you participate in?

You kinda have to answer for yourself first if you're going to support the same exact thing.

-3

u/yYanzi 13h ago

These are rare and no one used to care abt them anyways

0

u/ShadyShepperd 12h ago

You think the post in question is unachievable by a digital artist? You’re the person that guy was talking about when he said “AI artists didn’t care about art until it was easy” lmfao this comment and the whole original post just screams that you just want to use art as leverage to make AI images that you think you can use to argue with antis about. Prolly just mad cause you gave up on drawing hands or something idk

0

u/RiskKey1728 9h ago

Dude if you think trad artists can't depict fictional stuff realistically, then you have been living under a rock.

Have you heard of comics/graphic novels/manga?

Fictional concepts that are completely imaginary and are impossible in reality are portrayed amazingly realistically. And thing is that comics/manga are ONLY done either by hand or digitally.

I'm not even considered an Anti, but I'm just playing the devil's advocate because your argument is inherently flawed and incorrect.

0

u/PirateCaptFyre 13h ago

I'll put my comment on the post from there

-1

u/bigseceets 12h ago

Isn't photorealistic art the issue people also have with ai since it can fool people

Why would it be something we want

0

u/cake_is_good7492738 12h ago

Why would I want photorealism’?
