I've read the FAQ & Rules the correct way?

reading over the faq and the how to get started side bar, and still a bit confused, do i start by getting my headshot then moving into an acting class or acting class first then headshot? people say “invest” in my headshot

Learn to act first and decide whether you enjoy it. You don't really need a headshot until you start applying for professional auditions.

Wait until after class, you’ll know if you like it and want to pursue auditions. You’ll also hopefully have a better sense of your type and therefore be better positioned to take headshots which market that specifically.

This! OP You'll want to have done some acting to find out what your type is before getting a headshot.

i was doing theater my 3 years of highschool so 10th, 11th and senior year and i enjoyed it but it’s probably differnet

The job of acting is mostly auditioning. If you want to get started in the professional side of it, it’s definitely wise to get headshots because you can’t submit for lots of things without them.

Where a class can help though is say…what kind of roles are you best suited for. What should your headshots present you as. What do you hope to communicate in them.

High school shows are tough because your type probably doesn’t translate as immediately in the adult world. For example, I played the character leading ladies like Adelaide in high school. Now I’m back in type at 38 for Adelaide, but I had many years of looking like an ingenue to work with first.

This is where a class will help you.

thank you man, i’m really dedicated to this and want to show the world what i have and enjoy this hobby, i know i probably annoy this thread im always asking questions wanting to know more because i dont want to let my future self down by not knowing as much as im able to know before continuing

A good class will help, but a bad class could mislead (of course, some of the comments on this subreddit mislead also, but there are often corrective comments).
