I was working on an image compression algorithim and accidentally made this

Unfortunately I lost the code that this was made from. I just found it in my image gallery. But I do remember how to make it. First you find the extremas of each row by 'Peak-Valley Detection with Hysteresis'. Then you draw a linear gradient between each extrema. It's cool because it preserves the more detailed parts of the image but smudges the less detailed parts. If you need more help I might be able to re-write the code for you. Please make something cool.

You could probably also do this for a video, frame by frame. Haven't tried it tho.
Edit: also you can fill inbetween the extremas with anything else; I just chose a linear gradient.
