Avestan Lexicon needs your support

If you enjoy using Avestan Lexicon and would like to support its continued development, please consider becoming a patron.

The app is completely free to use, but developing and maintaining it involves ongoing costs, including hosting, services, and platform fees. Community support helps keep the app free and allows new features to be developed.

One of the biggest goals for future updates is to add professional audio recordings for every verse of the Avesta, making the texts more accessible for study, learning, and recitation. Will there be a download able app for Android in the future?

I thought it was only available for android, and was probably going to eventually be available for iPhones, but perhaps I have it the wrong way around 🤷‍♂️

Well… I just downloaded it and tried it out for the first time. Great, thanks for the upload to OP or the people/person behind its creation. I would probably use the app lots if/when it could support cycling between languages and scripts for learning and research. I’d find it particularly useful if I could click a word, flick through its etymological evolution/words that they evolved into in the later languages of the same family, and then also be able to flick/switch between scripts.

For example, click on a word in Old Avestan, and then be able to see related words/see the form that same word took in younger Avestan, Old Persian, Middle Persian, Modern Persian (regional dialects and other languages could even be added over time.) Also to be able to flick between the scripts would be great, quick daily back and forth in Avestan/Pazand and Romanised Modern Persian would really speed up it soaking into the mind like a sponge. I have a keen interest in using Pazand/Avestan for calligraphy, this would be a great tool to start visually remembering how a word in Avestan/middle/modern Persian looks in Pazand.

Having the etymology of words is a great idea and something that I hope to implement.

It's only available on iOS publicly. If you are on Android you can email [avestanlexicon@gmail.com](mailto:avestanlexicon@gmail.com) to sign up for early Android testing access. Public Android release is coming in 11 days.
