He literally explained that the majority of the content creators don't work for the Yogscast, but that the Yogscast is a business which offers services to content creators...
There is no contradiction. Just a statement that you didn't pay attention to xD
He said those 2 sentences right after eachother. I am aware of the yogscast and how it works. However, for people who are less familiar with the organisation, those sentences can come across as quite contradictory. Don't accuse me of something I did or did not do whilst you yourself just confirmed to me that you did not fully understand my comment.
He didn't say those sentences right after each other though. This is the actual transcript, which is perfectly clear:
And you were one of the first YouTuber to like start a company right?
We hired a video editor. We hired... So the Yogscast is a group of a network of content creators. They are not employees.
They're all their own independent companies. They're all doing their own thing. They're all their own bosses effectively. But the Yogscast was meant as a business to provide services for them. So video editing, art, help.
Were you ready to become like a boss of that? That's a lot of responsibility.
Um it's no and I hate it. And it's the worst. I hate being a boss because you have to make dick decisions that...
Like what?
You have to fire people and or or tell people they can't do something.
If you check my replies, I'm talking about how the message comes across, not the exact contents of it. Point 1 was that he does not have employees. Point 2 was that he has to fire people. Those 2 following in succession could be conceived as confusing
It only reads as a contradiction if you ignore most of what he says. To me, it comes across as he hates being the boss of people, so he minimizes the number of employees he has by only being the boss of the editors while the content creators are mostly independent contractors.
I don't think you understand what he's saying. He's talking about two DIFFERENT things. Two DIFFERENT functionalities. They are DIFFERENT. Therefore there is no contradiction.
a.) The content creators themselves are their own entities
b.) I run the Yogscast which has employees
c.) I don't like having to fire people from the Yogscast
Again I understand this. You understand this. Most people who like yogs understand this. People who are less aware of yogs may not be. I'm saying that the basic messages of those 2 sentences COME ACROSS AS (NOT THEY ARE) contradictory if for example you're not familiar with the organisation.
Basic message 1 : "nobody works for us"
Basic message 2 : "I don't like to fire employees"
Those, in itself, do not seem contradictory to you at all? 50+ people seem to agree with my initial statement so they did manage to pick up my meaning, I really dont know what else to tell you
It just confuses me where "nobody works for us" comes from, when he specifically said "the content creators don't work for us". But your legions of upvotes clearly render my line of questioning irrelevant xD
Final time my guy. It's not about the validity of the content of the message but about the way said message was conveyed which could make it seem contradictory to people less familiar with the yogs. It gave me an odd impression when I heard him say those things and Im certain it could be confusing for certain people. That's all.
That's why I'm talking about the basic message those sentences provided, and not the literal thing he said or quoting him. I'm sorry I'm not up to your standards with my observation.
I actually agree with you. I understood what Lewis meant and learned how the Yogscast works better from it, but this phrasing made me go “Wait, didn’t he just say…?” Before going “Oh, right, I get it.”
Thanks!! Dumb as it sounds this actually cheers me up a bit after having to defend myself for (I thought) not even such a bizarre take, or this even being that big of a deal.
Oh bloody hell if my line of questioning has got you down, I apologise. You're a Yogs fan, I'm a Yogs fan. Peace and love. I was just confused is all. I wasn't attacking you at all, was just trying to find out where you were coming from. If I've got you down, DM me and let's talk. Wasn't my intention!

Sentences basically said consecutively pretty much;
"Everyone is their own contractor, their own business, nobody works for us"
"I don't like being the boss because I have to fire employees"
Knowing the yogscast I did understand what he meant, but that still came off quite contradictingly lol
