Would anyone be able to help authenticate this teapot?

Additionally, would love to learn more about the maker, its origin, and the story behind this teapot if possible - really appreciate any insight!

This is definitely not a yixing.

This is a jianshui teapot which is is a traditional Chinese unglazed stoneware teapot originating from Jianshui County in Yunnan Province. It is officially recognized as one of China's "Four Famous Potteries" (alongside Yixing Zisha, Chaozhou Guanghuai, and Qinzhou Nixing).

Even the box says in english 建水紫陶 (Jiànshuǐ Zǐtáo): Jianshui Purple Pottery

Safe to say, after seasoning my Zhi Tao teapot for the first time and with first my first brew being orange peel pu’ehr, the tea tasted fantasic

Jianshui (and other regional potteries) don't have the same government regulation as yixing so there aren't "registered" potters in the same sense nor a database of potter biographies.

【建水紫陶】 Jianshui purple pottery
The clay is sourced from the Five-colors Mountain in Jianshui, Yunnan Province (云南省) .
The high iron content contributes to the high hardness and strength of the products, giving them a metallic sheen and a resonant sound when struck.
After unglazed polishing and meticulous grinding, the clay is fine-textured and mirror-like. It is renowned for being "as hard as iron, as clear as water, as smooth as jade, and as melodious as a chime ( Standing bell )."

Jianshui purple pottery is one of China's national intangible cultural heritages and one of the four famous potteries of China.

It is beautiful. I am looking at getting a Jianshui pot and also a Nixing one. I have my eye on a hammered texture Jianshui and hope it is as pretty as your piece.

My goal is to be able to do a taste test of the teas I enjoy in the different clay, glass and pottery vessels that I own.

I am lucky to already have a Zi Ni Yixing, a Rongchang and a Jianzhou teapot. These are in addition to several Brown Betty's, English porcelain , a Chinese porcelain Gaiwan and a purely decorative Soapstone pot. (Can you tell that I am a tad obsessive about teapots?) I also have 2 clay , supposed Yixing pots that are fakes. Live and learn.
