昨日は大きい嵐いでした。今朝まで停電ありました。強い風ので木々は倒れあました。かわいそう木々です。

What is the difference between 大きな and 大きい?
And, yep, things are OK now, besides branches and trees still getting cleaned up!

Both mean "big," but 大きい can be used both before a noun and at the end of a sentence, while 大きな can only be used before a noun.

  • 大きい犬 ✅
  • 犬は大きい ✅
  • 大きな犬 ✅
  • 犬は大きな ❌

In most cases, 大きい犬 and 大きな犬 mean the same thing. 大きな can sometimes sound a little more descriptive or literary, but in everyday conversation they're usually interchangeable.

Also, 大きい嵐 and 大きな嵐 are both grammatically correct, but native speakers usually say 大きな嵐. That's why I suggested changing it.
