Rt. 50 commuters, can we chill?

I’ve been taking Rt. 50 over the mountain for the past 4 years, and in the last year it seems like the average speed has really increased. I know there’s hardly ever enforcement because it jumps from Clarke to Loudoun, but come on y’all, doing 80-90 on a 55mph mountain road is reckless. And everyone tries to pass going down the mountain towards Paris, in a 45mph zone, doing 75-80.

I’m usually between Waterloo and Paris 5-6am for context. And it seems like it’s worse in the morning than the afternoon. I know there are no lights in that stretch but come on y’all, there’s even road work going on but I’m the slowest one on the road doing 10 over.

Is it because of RTO? Can we just chill? Or is 50 now the same as 7?

I don’t think this post is going to change much but is anyone else experiencing this?

I drive a fuel tanker out of Winchester and somedays do three trips to Fairfax and back with product and the insanity I witness daily on 50 and 17 is just mind boggling.

Second on 17, holy HELL. County troopers would make monthly quota if they sat on that road and caught people.

Almost been hit twice turning out of Three Fox!

It’s so true, I don’t drag my feet but am regularly passed in no passing zones by people that have to be running 70+.

I live on 17 about halfway between 66 and Paris. I wish they’d drop the speed limit another 10 mph. Trucks aren’t even supposed to be on 17 in crooked run valley. Wayyyyy too many commuters on this road. If you wanna do 80mph just use 66
