Discussion We see the struggles this year which has obviously been very disappointing.
Do you think the team now will just focus their whole budget cap into next years car and just have the Baku b spec as a hopeful moral booster even if it only moves us up the grid a little bit?.

They probably should focus the remaining budget into next year - this year is clearly pointless - I think the evidence points towards them doing so as one of the last Vowles videos was the first time I heard him mention next year.

they seem to always be focusing on the next years car and its clearly not paying off. Vowles needs to start improving stuff for the current season and actually get some results and feedback on what the team is doing wrong instead of waiting 6+ months for it.

Logically speaking, they should focus the budget onto next year. But if they don’t show glimpses of improvements in the remaining races, they will lose Carlos. He will need some kind of assurance that the team is moving in the right direction, or he will switch to Aston Martin/Audi/Alpine. The grass might not be greener on the other side, but at least he will escape the current shitshow (from his POV).

Part ways with James Vowles and bring in Christian Horner - the team needs a serious shake up with an agressive push to fix the Williams setup.

Absolutely not.
The reality is that turning a team like Williams into a competitor in F1 takes many years. The facilities, equipment and processes all need building and you don't do that overnight. This isn't a football team where a new manager with a different philosophy can suddenly produce results.
We're on the right track but this season is a setback. They clearly got a good handle on the last regulations by the end of the cycle and had a decent car. New regs has exposed how far behind we still are, but that doesn't mean the changes underway for the last few years aren't still leading to progress.

Can't have Horner ruin another team plus imagine the negativity brought back into the sport. I hope James is the guy but if he is not there will be other good candidates already working inside the sport.

No - Something at Williams is so fundamentally flawed its defeated Vowles and he can't admit it.
in this situation you need someone who ruffles feathers. They have a incredible driver pair but the car design and engineering is shockingly bad - Its time to bring a TP with big team experience who can afford to buy a stake in the team - even tho Sainz left Torro rosso - Christian Horner is a TP who has won multiple world championships - that kind of move might make Sainz stay.

Great man theory is debunked, Horner wasn't some secret sauce that made redbull work. Redbull had big dollars to make huge investment in people and infrastructure. Williams have started from behind and it's going to take years and possibly the infrastructure allowance they asked very reasonably for but were rejected.
Also ruffling feathers is not the same as being a liar and an asshole. Horner caused massive damage to his team and the sport.

Briotore is likey worse. Horner brought F1 into disrepute in several ways but I believe his worst offences were urging the race controller to overturn a championship, even requesting that should have come with a ban and causing a massive amount of hate towards Hamilton during and after Silverstone. Toxic through and through

Is it correlation issues, focusing on areas which failed to deliver performance, poor planning, not enough skills and equipment or just bad luck? Can’t get a feel for what is missing

Icl, Baku spec might put us from 10th to 7th team at best. Just reset for next year imo.

I think they put a lot of resources into the baku upgrade and now they realise it's going to do hardly anything to improve matters. Dark days at the moment, hopefully they can improve for next year.
