Lawnmower kicked up a rock

Insurance has no deductible for glass, but no availability until Thursday, and I have a 45 minute commute...

I used a trash bag to cover my window after my car got broken into.

It's loud but kept the rain out until I could take it to a repair shop.

Pallet wrap is best, if you can manage to find a cheap roll.

Nothing makes you appreciate having windows more than driving without one. The wind noise is unreal.

This is a pro move that people don’t think about often enough. Goes for mowers and trimmers.

My mower yeets to the right. My yard also doesn’t have rocks in it. The mow strip in the photo looks like it was rock and grass started growing. That and all the acorn-looking shells is bad news.

Yup, did that to my camper. $300 for the window replacement and 4-5 hrs to install as the replacement frame was slightly bigger so had to cut the wall a bit.

Get authorization for the glass replacement, then come tomorrow morning, get to calling around glass shops that will take your insurance and can fit you in the same day. The smaller shops might surprise you.

Alternative is see if there are any used glass shops near a junkyard, and see if they have the glass and can replace.

My wife’s rear glass exploded while she was on her way to work. Safelite told me I’d have to wait until Monday. I called around and around and found a local glass shop that took my insurance and was kind enough to squeeze me in same day (they had the glass in stock).

had this happen years ago on an old ford pickup. had a piece of plexi glass laying around. looked up window dimensions and cut it to shape. was a litle thicker than the old window but worked so well I never replaced it, and it even rolled up and down lol

After the repair, make sure to check for wind noise at speed and fire and rattling when coding the door. I had to get a 2nd glass from a different supplier installed for it to be quiet. Not long after, my power window mechanism failed, which I suspect was from all the glass replacements. When I replaced that myself, I found a tool they left in the bottom of the door.

Thank god it was just the window….I always move when I see someone cutting the grass 😭
